wearing holes in my shoes

ok.
i'm fuckin' tired. i've been walking like a crazyman - which really is the way to do any big city - nyc, london, etc...but, at least for me, i'm fine and then all of a sudden, i'm done. and that is now, for today.

i started my day at the DDR museum (which i found kinda weird...) and then made my way to the national gallery - which, so far, is the big winner. they are having a huge exhibit of Gerhard Richter - a name i did not know (at least not in my recent memory bank but, after i looked him up last night before heading over to the museum today, i knew some of his work and was stoked to go and see it in person) those into sonic youth in the 90's would know one of his paintings as the cover to the daydream nation album.

pretty cool stuff. a lot of the paintings are in the photorealism vein but done almost as if the camera was slightly out of focus, while other pieces are very realistic. he also does abstract work. he's awesome. like i need to say so.

downstairs in the same gallery are the big wheels of the art world - Warhol, Lichtenstein, Judd, Picasso, Bacon, Rothko, etc...so great.

i spent a long time there and then went over to the Brandenburg gate, looked around like a million other tourists did today alone and then walked the long walk back to my hotel. i am done...for now.
tomorrow...a little more and then lambchop in the evening.
good times.
below...a whole load of photos.

enjoy.

 berliner dome.

 that tall lookout thing.

 had to try one.

 brandenburg gate.

this is cool. an sea of blocks of different sizes that spans a city block-ish. you're not suppose to get up on them but everyone does. it screams for you to do that and the sign that says you're not to do it is very small and on the ground covered in dirt. so i went up.

great bronze statues of a family and one of some children.

 more gerhard richter.

great glass building i came across.

not sure if you can read the words printed on the piece next to the piece.

 more richter.

this glass piece is his too. it is five or six pieces of glass stacked against each other with a small gap inbetween each one. it gives you several images of the reflection at once.

 the boys.

 statue of worker.
