up and down like a yo-yo...

i'll say this.
today has been a bit of a test. but it'll all be fine.
i'll also say this. i did, what i thought, was a pretty decent bit of research on flights out of new york and boston to amsterdam. i put in dates and went through the whole process and got some good prices. i also put in fake dates very close to the departure day to see if there was much of a difference and there wasn't.
not until today.
i went to book my ticket to amsterdam today - and i'll explain it this way why i waited until today.
1: i wanted to make sure i made it through to toronto
2: i wanted to see how long i stayed in toronto
3: i wanted to get back into the states before i made a reservation because if i had trouble, it happens, i'd be out a bunch of cash.
so..today i went on-line and was a little taken aback at the prices to amsterdam from boston. and they were not better from nyc. my exterior was calm but inside i was having a little bit of a moment. garvie was on-line so i told her what was happening and she told me to remain calm. i did. (i have to admit having her on the other end just getting me to relax was awesome...) and she was very good about not telling me 'i told you so' about the ticket prices - that move like stocks - though i know she was thinking it...there's a time for casual, seat of your pants stuff and time for real planning...i'll take her advice next time and do more planning where planes are involved.
anyhow...
in the end i found a flight that is only 75 dollars more than the one i thought i'd get to amsterdam but i am now flying into london, heathrow. no biggie. and instead of a train from amsterdam to berlin, as originally planned, i will fly from london to berlin. presto. and that ends up costing less than the train would have cost, return to london on the plane. all good. i was, however hoping to ride the train and may, stil take the train to amsterdam after i see lambchop and then fly back to london to get my flight home. i will plan this better than i have so far.
ok.
i am about a 120 miles from boston and will stay outside the city tonight and then make my way into boston in the morning and meet-up with leora and figure out where i'm going to leave my car while i'm away, etc.
have a great night...talk tomorrow.
