caffeine is my baby!

huh?

that's right!

i can't do a decent report right now as i steal internet from the best western in corning, california...the road outta vancouver was super shitty this morning at 4:45 am....and all the way to bellingham sucked hard....hard packed snow... a border guard just looking for a reason to refuse me entry...with a great skill testing question today..."do you live alone?"....huh? sure, yes...why? idiot! i just had a couple in-n-out cheeseburgers and a milkshake...should be good for the old system...stopped in portland today to pick-up my camera i had them fix-good thing too since i forgot my other camera at home-what an idiot! dropped by upper playground and got garbs a new shirt, stole some stickers, looked at some art at 'be complex'....the hit the road...i faded hard a few times and didn't know how i was going to do...lots of rain and wind, then it got dark as i hit the mountains after medford...but the roads were dry into california and it was like i got a second wiond and was super rally garn through the mountains and into redding and the in-n-out...
i'll drive a little more tonight then crash...SF is only two hours from where i am and los gatos anothert hour from there...and the el presidente!!!!
ok...back on the road i go...

more details tomorrow wehn i may make more sense...

this idiot needs a nap

that's it god damn it! i'm outta here!
work is done, for now. the last topanga cafe el presidente has been eaten (last night with riel, corie, the network and myself...) and i am done. sure, there's a little snow on the ground but fuck it...i've driven this shit before. and it better be sunnny when i get there or i'm gonna throw a hissy fit.

i love you all...check daily to see what's what. i have no idea after tucson where i'm going...and that's good.

the return of boozy the clown...

yesterday, after i took the queen to thedoctor's in richmond and made some new cable lock things ffor the garbs and mishi, we headed to topanga for, perhaps, my last el presidente topanga style for a while as i am going to head south tomorrow..i think. mish decided we should have some margaritas...she having a little more than old garn...we ended up at my place watching the hockey game when mishi decided to start doing headstands in my place...good times...
we also had a bunch of snow globes that leeanne was getting rid of...we placed them all over town-in the 7-11, hung from trees, etc...good times...

i have no real report...just more life in the big city....

this could be the last time....

a stones reference being that they were just in town rockin' the house...
turns out i didn't have to work today. i was all set to work but corie went in my place today. he had been working on a gag that played today so he felt it was better he was there to make sure it all went well. i think he may be rethiunking that desicion now as it's even colder today than it was yesterday.
also, it may be the last day for us on the show and tomorrow we'll wrap our shit and gte outta dodge...and i'll really get outta dodge. heading for the real el presidente...speaking of which i think i'll go for a el presidente tonight....any takers?
i cleaned the homestead from stem to stern today just because it seemed the right thing to do before i hit the road...come home to a clean house-unless the garbs comes over while i away then it's all for nothing.
i took a bunch of pics of my toys today for insurance reasons-my home insurance is coming up and i want them to see the pics and make sure they understand the replacement costs etc...should be interesting.
if you're at all curious to see what shit i have right now, not that you would be, check out this link...

http://forums.kidrobot.com/viewtopic.php?p=598155#598155

they have a 'show-off' forum on the kid robot board, just to prove its geekiness....and i thought i'd contribute my shitola.
ok...i'm off to drive the queen to her doctor's appointment because she's dying of scurvy or something-so she says. should be fun driving to richmond in the ice and snow....

more later...

cooler than a witch's...

outside my place at 6:15 this morning...

man on man...i hate the cold but can get through it ok with the right gear. this morning it was all about the right gear. both for driving and being outside. and both held up well until the final part of the work day when my feet went numb...always bad. the element with its all wheel drive was great...no complaints there....but i am happy to be home and warm and for the first time this year i have turned on the heat in my place...i've been holding off.
i will tell tales of our 'star' on this film some other time...suffice to say, she's a bit high maintainence and perhaps, a little spoiled...'nuff said.

here are some pics from the day...

the parking lot was a little snowy today.

more sunday pics. like ya care.

julie in the snow in front of her place....

went over to the network's and oput up some shelves and moved some stuff around and some stuff out-for good. the cat door still has some issues but hopefully it'll be all fixed soon enough.
went and retreived my drill and some other goods i had lent to julia. she never actually used them, but i'm sure someday she'll borrow them again and have them for a while again.
i ended up on granville island because i needed to get some ground coffee-from jj bean where they can grind it pretty fast actually....and i wanted to get some soup in me. as much as the soup at the stock market tastes kinda all the same, with variations, i think it's still pretty good for ya. and i needed a little internal goodness today. i also ran into penelope, who if you remember we had met at the topanga cafe a while back and she came and joined us at out table....the same night i had to blow for the officer in the middle of the granville street bridge...andhow..she came by the pickle when i was there and she came with me to get the coffee and soup then she split to go to work. good times.
i'm off to hockey now with corie even though my back is fuckin' killing me today...last night i could hardly bend over to pick-up pieces of wood at the shop when i was with christian..getting old rules.

good times.

have fun.

g. xo

i don't actually know this young woman's name but she works at the granville island jj bean. the garbs told her to pretend, when i order drinks form her, that she doesn't understand me. like i'm speaking another language. so i call her "huh what?"...she's funny...

it's beginning to look a lot like...fuck this!

this is awesome. the snow is so awesome. i can't understand why i would want to head south. snow's great in the mountains. shitty in town.
went out last night and helped christian from voltage make a thingy for a light box he had made...lightbox? or sign...? anyhow...with my great skill with the tablesaw we got 'er done...the proof will be in the pudding once he gets it all wired-up with lights...and he was, they were-he and erika, very nice to me once again by giving me a book for my efforts...thanks.

as you may know. i bought a new couch last week so the old loveseat has to go. it needs a good cleaning from rico-the guy i have used for the last ten years, but otherwise it's still pretty good. sure, i'd love to get some cash for it but really, a good home is where it should end up. if you know anyone who needs such an animal let me know.
ok...i need to find some coffee...i have none here...

like a twig snapping under foot.

i felt something in me snap today. it was suden yet, maybe, not entirely unexpected. i was having a fine day, details to follow, and then, around 5:15 pm...i kinda lost it. i am grumpy now....not my usual good natured grumpiness either...grumpy like i have to get the fuck outta here grumpy. and i do need to get out of here. the thought of working on set next week kills me. i would rather get kicked in the nuts. or a good shot to the head. but, alas, i will be on set monday morning, workin' for the man, thinking about arizona and a real el presidente. nice.
it's snowing now. and it sucks. i love snow...in the montains but on the city streets it sucks. i have defended vancouver drivers for years but, the truth be told, they suck. maybe the worst drivers i have encountered ever. and, as you may already know, i have driven all over north america and in europe.
today i helped leeanne move some shit out of her place. some stuff to the sally-ann and then i, on my own and with the garbs, took more stuff to other places to get rid of it....books, computer stuff, snow globes, etc. all good.
took a bunch of cd's i never listen to anymore or have on my ipod...or both, to zulu today. they took about half....better than having them sit for another few years on my shelf at home...then we went for a burrito at mex burrito on broadway...used to be red burrito but is now mex....oh, like it matters. pretty good though...garbs thinks it's better than red burrito on commercial...certainly faster...and only one person was working there at the time...
ran into the network and had a coffee with her and the garbs at cafe artigiano, where we ran into a local celeb of sorts, who the garbs made a great remark directly to, and mel and her man dean. good lookin' couple they are...they live just down the block from me but i never see them...so i guess they're like a lot of people i know...we're all just too fuckin' busy. being an adult sucks.
took another pic of the weather here for lena so she can not be some homesick for vancouver. ad saw a woman dressed in a great costume...hipster sweats and pink boots...so very nice. so, continental.
may help christiina tonight with a sign thing for voltage...i'll do the best i can...but as we know, i'm no genius.

hockey's on....see ya later.

i love making smoke...

tammy gives 'er....

joel gives 'er in his own way....

today i was able to get my bacon fix once more and will again monday and tuesday next week as i'll be on set those days as well...blowin' smoke...other wise known as making movie majic...and i am so proud of my work on this sarah michelle geller feature...corie has been maing some good smoke too...good times...
i have no real report of any sort...it was a day like any other really...hung out in the ctaft service tent, not eating much actually, rather keeping warm as it has a heater...i did find a spot today to hide in today for a little while but then had to get back to 'work'...tammy, the TAD(training assist. director...) is a nutbar and basically has a mouth like a trucker and walks around set smoking and making rude comments...pretty good. she came by the spfx trailer at the end of the night to score herself a beer and make more rude comments and swear a little with the bous...her husband is an ALM (locations dude) and he is so lucky....

ok...have a great weekend kids....

make it rain you idiots...oh, and a little smoke...

a little bacon for breakfast this morning on set...so hard to resist....and rain making...good times. i'm still having a little buyer's remorse but i'll be fine...i hope.
no real report. i did stop and take a picture specifically for lena because she said that sometimes the blog makes her homesick...maybe this rainy shot will make that feeling go away...and soon.
have fun kids...

bleeding money, picking fabric and eating crazy japanese food...

it was a day to get things done. joel was suppose to call me and tell me if i was working or not....he didn't so i just carried on as if i wasn't...i had things to finish at the network's place and stuff to buy...kinda.

i grabbed the garbs and we went to the shop and grabbed a few things and away we went...off to bosa foods first to get a sandwich and a drink then to the network's to fix shit...i think there are/is still a few things to do there but, with the help of garbs, got four things done there today so that's good...

after the network's is where it all went south...i started hemmoraging money...well, not right away...we went by Bombast, where i had seen a chair i was interested in...kim, the woman runnig the show there was great and in the end i was convinced i needed the chair but needed to get the couch thing sorted out firt...i had been looking at one at UA up on burrard street...so we grabbed mishi and away we went to pick some fabric and spend some cash...truth be told i haven't bought any new furniture in ten years so it was time...i wanted a new couch and today was the day.
after we got that all sorted out it was back to Bombast, with a swatch of the color i am getting on my couch and before i knew it, we had picked out a color and fabric for the chair and i was spending a little more money...there ya go....good thing i've been working....a little.
things have to be sorted out at the old homestead in terms of making it all work so mishi and garbs gave me some help before we headed off to dinner with the network and corie...

we were gonna go to Lotita's but it was a line-up nightmare so we headed to Guu on robson instead...all good...i think we ate too much but i was having great buyer's remorse...in the end i was okay but...it's hard spending that kinda money...but i need something to lie down on when i watch TV....

now....i need some sleep before a big day at work making rain....
hopefully the direction with be south soon....very soon.

night night

dear lover

dear jj bean.
it’s over. we’re done. well, at least as a full time thing. i have tried for a long time to develop a better sense of what makes you what you are and that the time it takes to get a coffee is worth it in the end. sure, i’ve cheated on you with cafĂ© artigiano, soma and even bean around the world when in a real bind and unhappy about it, but, i’ve always come back home for dinner. i have stood at the counter of main street waiting as two machines fight it out trying to keep the pace but falling farther and farther behind until it takes 15 minutes to get a long espresso. i have stood next to the flowers at your location on Granville island almost 20 minutes to get a chain latte. and finally, on powell street, 15 minutes for a latte with no one waiting in front of me. that damn duncan.
sure, it’s only coffee but you’d think it was a secret science the way you keep it from me until it’s just so perfect, then finally releasing it to me. it’s like a trick is being played on me, and jj i don’t like tricks. i like coffee.
so, i have to say we’re breaking up. maybe, if i have an opening in my day where i don’t have to be anywhere for ½ and hour or more, i’ll drop by, say hello, grab a drink and not worry about the time it takes. but i will no longer sit through the time it takes to run shots three or four or five times just to get it perfect, when i need a coffee now. i can’t wait, i’m sorry. and i love you, but i just can’t anymore.
you’ve got others who will wait, so you don’t need me. sure, you may miss me for a minute but, in time, i’ll be forgotten like the last latte you forgot to make.
don’t be sad, i’m not. we’ll move on without each other, i’ll pass by and wave and you’ll keep making coffee one drink at a time, one shot at a time, one slow grind after another.
take care. i’ll miss you. but in the end, it’s best for both of us.

sunday this, sunday that...

things running like clockwork in the 'hood...

not much action today really....went down to the island and looked at the bad art at the art sale going on at emily carr art school...holy shit! it was some of the worst art i have ever seen...ever. see the pics below....
then mishi and i went and looked at couches at Boconcept...shitola...all shitola...
then the garbs and i went up to UA to look at more couches...some shitola...some good stuff...i may go back this week and take a tape measure with me....
then it was off to voltage as garbs is doing some sort of trade deal with the kids there...also the money finally came through from the idiot in england for the returned grey king ken...good times...
corie and i had a hockey game tonight that we were fortunate enough to win...it was funny, at one point corie and i were both in the penalty box at the same time...bad asses...he pulled a guy down and i smoked a guy and left him lying there not lookin' o good...it was actually an accident...i felt kinda bad...he was fine in the end...
then it was off to earls, of all places, next to the paramount theatres, to watch the canucks game and eat some snacks...i'm such an earls guy...as is corie...it was actually fine and the food was ok...too bad the canucks won....

ok...off to bed...

have fun.
