rattlehead rocks wilco.

last night, because of the great generosity of brent and mina, garvie and i went and saw wilco at the orpheum. i hadn't seen them for a very long time, in waht, in fact, seems like a lifetime ago since they have really become a very different band in the years since. the band that first came out to the ashes of uncle tupelo - another band i am so happy to have seen when they were together - was much more of a straight ahead band somewhat in the vein of the flying burrito brothers or a few other so-cal country rock bands. out of the gate they were great. now they're even better with so many other influences dotting their sound - experimental, noise, funk, california dreamin', rock, country, jazz....and last night they were awesome. i'm kinda glad i hadn't seen them for a number, probably, 10 or more, years, it allowed me to really see a brand new band. kinda.
that probably made no sense. anyhow.

it was great. (even better that beefie - bomber brethern - was close by and i could feel him loving it as well) and that the tickets, very unexpectedly, come from on high from mina and brent - he another bomber brother and long time friend...and i can't thank them enough. a couple lawn cuts are on the way come spring.
also last night it was like a reunion of sorts. so many people i hadn't seen in ages - katherine hyashi, john and tony pantages, ken the promotor guy....and gerald rattlehead. yes. that's what they call him. and he was, to say the least, in the spirit. the ushers had a few chats with them but i spoke to the ushers and vouched for him. i have a soft spot in my heart for gerald from my days at citr radio. a quick glimpse into gerald here. he loved the show last night. he loves every show.

ok. so much to do. i leave next saturday for wyoming.
(i think i'm gonna go across the road and order a couch.)

That's an awesome blast from the past! I was the phone lady for a very short time on Power Chord- although I knew nothing about metal. Ron & I were in the same literature class at Kwantlen in the 80's.
My fave trivia question, and the ONLY one I remember- Name the original title of Metallica's Ride The Lightening album.....lol. Fun times.
