hallow weiney

last night garvie and i headed out to fawn and dave's for a combo 40th birthday party for fawn/halloween party. following not far behind us were corie, mishi and 'he who can not be named on the blog'. 'he who can not...." came dressed as me. i don't think i have ever laughed so hard. ever maybe.
everyone looked great. ailsa's heavy make-up, tight jeans flag girl complete with stop sign and pack of smokes, corie's edmonton hockey player in town for a tourney, mishi's garden gnome...all great. there was a guy there dressed as a banana that got a pretty close to getting knocked out but i gave him the benefit of too many drinks.
today...relaxo.

have fun. trick or treat.

with the cutting of ali's lawn today - her strata - it's a done deal. the mowers are now officially away for the season. (unless someone in need calls....)

happy birthday fawn

better late than never...(i zoned a little)

happy birthday fawn!

i hope you had a great dinner with your main man dave.

a chicken in every pot.

or at least a pot at my place last night.
ailsa and i had a nice day of walking around, running a few errands, getting shit done and in the end, shopping for a one pot dinner consisting of a nice whole chicken with veggies surrounding it in my blue le creuset pot. love that thing. super easy, delicious and fuckin' good for ya. step right up!
a little cowboys hockey on the weekend as well that went pretty well until the end of the third when a guy who stripped me of the puck took exception to me giving him a little lumber as he skated away...he turned and drilled me in the side of the head with his fist...glove on. it hurt. i know i hit him, and probably deserved a 2:00 penalty but the drill to the head..? not sure. oh well, we won.
sometime this week i'll be delivering a well grown pumpkin, by me! to ms. fiona so she can carve it up and have a jack'o lantern at her place, maybe in her room...monday night she'll be trolling for tricks and treats dressed as a vampire, i think...
watched a little of the world series last night...i hate that it's series that features teams that play in an eastern time zone...i have missed a great deal of it and since i don't give a shit about hockey - essentially, it's a super bummer i am missing the fall classic. good action last night and while i have a soft spot for the cards, i love ron washington's enthusiasm for the game. 'baseball does what it's gonna do'. love it. so either way i'll be happy with the results in the end.
more of this and that...

eggs o'plenty

i think ailsa and i found a place, well truth be told she found it long before i had been there, yesterday that i defininately would be garbs approved. the cafe brixton on keefer st, i think that's where it is...pretty good though. if i had to choose, and i can, between the place down at the foot of main, what the fuck is it called...deacon's corner, i'm choosing brixton. for now.

just giving heads up.

garnyard cheech

last night after having a truckload of tacos with 'he who can not be named on the blog' and juliet - realtor to the stars - i went home and packed a few baggies - actually nice little zip lock bags usually used for holding jewelry - with some of my maryjane - i have named it 'garnyard cheech'. potent but still with that 70's homegrown feel.
the reviews have been decent so far...more will be rolling in soon i'm sure. and after i give some of the bombers and the garbs their cut, there will be more thoughts on it.

have fun.

my drug buddy

there are certain albums that hold a special place in my heart and this one is one of them - lemonheads "it's a shame about ray"
when it was released, my life was changing in ways i couldn't have imagined, i was ending a fairly long term relationship, meeting new people that would become life long friends and leaving a job that i had had for many years and moving onto another one with less promise in the long run, but ended up leading me to where i am today...
it's an album that's great front to back.
now the lemonheads are touring playing this album, front to back, in it's entirely. i guess that's what front to back would mean wouldn't it?
will i go and see them do it...probably not, but i love the sound of the idea.
makes me feel old. but a good old.

that's hockey

well, i learned my fate tonight, along with fellow bombers chef and wheeler.

cowboy's hockey was a less of a stick action affair - i scored what ended up being the game winner...nice way to end the day. corie had a great shot from the point that got deflected by crazy. final 5-4. i did get cross checked so hard in front of the net that i was stunned by it - more stunned that a guy would hit me that hard just because. fuckin' hurt. i'm sore now after two games and bunch of lawns.

sleepy.

farmer

holy crap it's been a day.
up at 6:30 to drive ailsa and fiona to the airport, then home to clip and trim the mary jane - that's mr. resin fingers to you.

then off to cut a couple lawns before the bomber hockey game at 10:45 am...(it was a chippy game that i got ejected from for opening my big mouth...something i don't do that much anymore but i had a reason today...oh well...then the chef and wheeler got kicked out ..), then off to cut five more lawns, maybe six, then dinner at refuel - i had only had two pieces of toast - thanks katherine - so i was hungry. they made me a burger tonight they call the dirty spaniard. nice. it had some fancy spice on it and a fried egg sunny side up. holy cow.

now a little relax and then off to the second hockey game at eight rinks. i think i'll sleep well tonight...

have fun.
