hot burritos, hot sauce and hot air...

ok...so i got up this morning and headed over to hillcrest plumbing and heating and had a little consult with the dudes there...such good guys. you may pay a little more there but in the end their service is second to none...did i just use that term? second to none...? ok..well, them fucks knows what's what....they told me to check a couple of things to determine that it was the transformer...so off to the topanga i went, checked, tore out the old transformer, drove back to hillcrest, bought a new one as well as a new thermostat and went back to the topanag to slap 'er all together...
and presto chango! the gas ignited like a blue angel at a frat party. good times. so if you're thinking about going to the topanga for dinner...have no fear..you don't need mittens...

now i'm off to work at stage 2 lion's gate on the thriller 'addicted'...that sarah michelle geller...she knows how to re-make those asian classics...

have fun.

hector you fuckin' idiot!

joel...

ok...
i'll get to hector in a second...but he's a super genius to be sure.
back at it today. i had a super shitty sleep last night waking up every hour on the hour and then in the middle of the day started to feel like a bag of shit...dizzy, sore, etc...great. thank god, or someone, this film is a bit of a paid vacation in many ways. sure, we're working, and gettin' 'er done but..at a pretty good pace and i'm only there three days a week so...good times...
today after work i headed over to the network's place to put up a banner thing for her. i had this circus sideshow banner thing painted for me years ago and took it down a while back so now it's living at her place...i put it up and it looks great...it has a new home and i think that's great...
then we met corie for dinner at topanga...the heaters aren't working there so it's chilly inside...i wasn't aware that the indoor heater was on the fritz as well...so after a phone call with my uncle, who lives close by topanga, i headed up to his place to get a part he was pretty sure would fix it..then when i got there...he was pretty sure it wasn't the part...he figured it was....so now at least i knew what i needed. back to the topanga...eat, chat, leave and head to the home depot to but the part...where i met hector...
i tried over and over to find someone to sell me, or at least help me find a 24 volt transformer...i spotted hector..hey hector, can ya help me find a 24 volt transformer...? sure, i'm a little busy but it'll be in the electrical aisle..really hector? you're a fuckin' genius...i told him i figured that and that i had been looking for one in that very aisle...then he was off telling me to check in aisle six...then i ran into some other home depot associate who told me that they didn't have that.....nice...that onlt took 30 minutes of my time...
fuck you you fuckin' fucks!!! home depot home for the super genius.
i'm an idiot and if i think they're idiots...wow.

ok...we're all on set tomorrow....starting sometime around eleven a.m. these are the good times...i'll be at topanga at 7:30 am trying to fix this stupid thing...

sacked out

sometimes after a big topanga cafe meal it's all over...to the couch i have to go...that was last night. plus i have been mr. low energy lately so that coupled with the big tamale covered in prawns is a huge factor to attaching me to the couch for the rest of the night.
there was a chance i was gonna get called to work today but it hasn't happened yet...i guess it won't...a guy i contacted through craigslist last night is coming over here to help me get my wireless configured correctly...because my network is open, because i have had a hell of a time getting linksys wireless router to require a password..man, what a nightmare...i posted a question about it and he came to my rescue..but, of course, the proof will be in the pudding...we'll see when he gets here.
i'm heading over to zulu later to do their recycling and steal a few cd's...so the ipod will have new music...and all it costs me is a little time..
oh..and i had my dryer apart today as well..that was a good time. and then it worked well for an hour or so but has now stopped again...excellent. time to break out the tools again...and call kramer...

more details later...

the return of the slacker and the kids that play that game

it's really kind of a cool thing, the world series. it has nothing to do with any other country than the united states, well, maybe canada sometimes but really, it's about the US of A...no teams from japan or korea...no mexican teams, no teams from europe...anyhow...it's still a cool event.. in hockey, and i love the hockey, it's so easy to get into the playoffs, so easy to coast and make the top 16 or whatever number they're playing with now...in baseball you have to play to win every one of the 162 games throughout the season...or you're fucked. it used to be that in the end two teams from the american league made it, and two from the national league...that's it...the rest went golfing. now eight teams make it and away they go...and whether or not you think baeball is stupid or slow or a game for fat althetes, it's exciting in the playoffs. the garbs became a fan this year...i think.. daisley brings over the honey roasted peanuts and calls 'em as he sees 'em... bull misses the whole thing, partially my fault this year and others drop by here and there...most notably marc belke who made a good game better this year....no brent or earl fudger this year...that's a real name...i kid you not....hot dogs were eaten, drinks drunk, and hands were thrown in the air over and over as the tigers pitchers failed over and over to make the throws they needed to make...oh well.. good for the cards...david eckstein was voted MVP...great for the little guy....tony larussa won the big one for the second time in 17 years...it was good. i would like to have seen it go longer, even with the tigers losing in the end...more baseball equals more drama and more hot dogs and more...more stuff...more dirty hands and missed chances. good times. i'm rambling. i love baseball. i don't followw it as closely as others or as i should but i love it. i love the simplicity, the tradition, the brooks robinson type stabs made by third basemen and the long throw to first. i was glad to have gone to the first game of the ALCS this year in oakland. it was fun and worth every cent. so here's to the tigers and the cards...thanks. i guess i'll have to start paying attention to the red wings...maybe...now that stevie and brendan are gone it's a tough go..

good.

today was an errand kind of day...mishi's crazy aunt in sweden sent her birthday present to her old address...not her address at my place or her place on commercial drive...nope...her address on beatty street where she lived almost ten years ago...so, and it's a long boring story, i had to figure out a way to intercept the package...which i did and i picked it up from the guy who now lives in that suite on beatty street...he works at rethink on pender and seems like a good guy...i didn't actually meet him but spoke with him on the phone...worked out. thanks matt....

had coffee with the queen today...the network was driving by and saw my car and dropped in...kinda hard to miss larry....the network is off to seattle this weekend to dance the soles of her feet off...there's some halloween action down there as well...the queen has some sort of party thing this weekend as well...i'll be staying home and/or playing hockey saturday...nice.

have fun...i need a nap...

carpenter nails the tigers and the companions come home to roost...

last night muc came over to watch the tigers/cards world series game. i was trying to remember the last time i actually saw his smilin' face in person...he's been going to school at BCIT and i've been working so it's a tough go...it was great to have him over. we had a couple of hot dogs, a few laughs, the garbs was there-of course, it was good. the tigers lost but that's ok...daisley was out on the town so he was a no show.

when i was in santa cruz a few weeks i pulled the trigger on a deal for some Kaws 1999 original Companions...they were something i really wanted and had had chances to buy before but didn't, and the price keeps going up and up and up so...i did it. they arrived yesterday. i'm not sure if i had actually ever seen any in person but when i did yesterday i was impressed. in fact, as i was opening the box i was like a little kid at xmas. you have to see them in person to appreciate them fully. i think now i can actually be called a collector...or a complete idiot.

more later....

the fawnz's big birthday action!!!

last night we went out and celebrated fawn's 29th birthday at the home of good times, the topanga cafe....simone, corie and i made sure she was well taken care of and full of mexican goodness....she got a few gifts, a couple of hugs, had a few laughs and load of chocolate cake....
carl and kristi, friends of corie's and kinda mine too i suppose- and topanga regulars, came by and joined us near the end of the dinner...good times...
fawn's birthday is actually today and will be celebrating with her helle tonight at a pizza joint on commercial...nice!

happy birthday fawn...!!!!

wetdown, no wetdown..blow the leaves, don't blow the leaves...

yesterday i was sent to set to help eugene wetdown an area in front ot riverview, or crazyview as the kids like to call it...so i had the shit out, getting ready and....'cancel wetdown...!"..ok i can do that...then it was throwing leaves in front of a fan as eugene panned the fan back and forth...good gig. the PM actually came over to tell me how inpressed he was with my work. i also ran into jill osborne, the queen of caffeine...she's a good one...

no real report except to say i had a little craft service, drank some coffee, sat around and then went home....good times...

eggs with floyd, y-vonne's lawn and cuts for a cure...

andy and taylor on granville island today...

kind of a wacky weekend...
those of you in the know, know that mishi's mom, karin, has been battling cancer for a while now and mishi went to england to be with her. karin passed away friday night. you know, karin and i never saw eye to eye on a lot of issues but she was a good woman and a caring mother to mishi and peter. bright lights.
floyd came over from the island on saturday morning and i met him in horseshoe aby and we had breakfast at troll's...they don;t exactly make a mean breakfast, it ain't the grove, but it was nice to see my dad...i took a couple of pics of him in his lawn order shirt and next to the lawn order company vehicle...neither of which are great shots but...i'm posting them anyways...
played a little hockey on saturday as well...i scored a goal, no biggie, but tornack scored the winning goal..pretty good....good work.
the tigers had a tough go yesterday...the cards beat them like a rented mule...it's a seven game series so i'm not that worried...yet. it'll be fine...i like both teams so...but, go tigers.
today after sitting on my ass a good portion of the morning i got my act in gear and drove out to y-vonne's place to cut her lawn...she was the PM on Shooter..and for my good deed of the day i decided i wasn't going to take any money for the cut...i told y-vonne to make a donation to the canadian cancer society...sometimes it's lovin' spoonful, today, the cancer kids...normally i wouldn't say anything but, if ya have a couple bucks, maybe give a little to the cancer people or lovin' spoonful...
ok...back to watching baseball...i need some ice cream.

g. xo

mina and tai can't decide which team they like...(isn't that my old tiger's shirt...?)

y-vonne's lawn in west van...good job.

russ meyer...that's not the russ meyer i know....

shooters, shooting and a big shot...

i made an art purchase that i. maybe, shouldn't have made...but i did it..and i think 'they', the art, if you wanna call 'them' that will be here next week...you'll see..pics as soon as 'they' get here...i'm having regrets abiut it but it's a done deal and...oh, whatever.
in toyland, a while back i mentioned that i had won a grey king ken on ebay and that it had arrived damaged...well, after some fighting and many e.mails back and forth, i won my money back through Paypal...it's a long boring story but it, the toy, is on its way back to england as we speak...as a side note..i can't thank the kids at voltage enough for all their help with the issue. without them it would never have been resolved. and that's the truth...thanks erika and christian!
that said, i won another grey king ken on ebay last night for less than the first one...hopefully it will arrive in one piece. (fingers crossed...)

the other day for lunch we went for tuna shooters...if you've never had one, you have to try them...they are so freakin' good...sushi place, lonsdale, north van..name will come to me...

i went to the island today and took some pics of the garbs work for a blog were gonna make tonight...address to be posted here soon enough...just some quick pics so he can tell people where to have a look...a place in Portland called 'office' is interested in his stuff...

bussing it to the island...

the cards/tigers series starts tomorrow...truthfully, i'm happy with whomever wins, really...but go tigers..last night's game was so fuckin' good...plays that will be replayed for years and years to come...good times.

here we go...

so it has been pointed out to me that i haven't made a decent blog entry for several days, maybe longer. all i've got to say tot hat is that you can't rush genius...or something.

here's a great link though for those of you with...um...problems.

http://www.supersizeworld.com/25-600.htm

my pal aaron chapman, a good man he is, met an icon the other night and shared this photo with me. true greatness.

i will be doing a proper post soon enough. i am going to be heading down to the island to see the garbs and help him take some pictures of his work so...maybe there will be something to report after that.
and for those who doubted me...those of you who said yankees-A's or yankees-twins or mets-twins...nope..i said it. cards-tigers. and it will be the tigers in six. more on this later...

i finally went by and saw the new shum/belke offspring...tai...he's a cute little fella...fell asleep in my arms like most kids do and then need a little lunch from the breastaurant so...i had to let him go. good on those kids...

back at it and a vote for jackass...

this morning was a hard one. i haven't had to be up at 5:45 am for over a week and today was reminded that going to bed before the news is on at 11 pm is a good idea. and now it's so dark in the morning it makes it even harder...yesterday i didn't get out of bed until 10 am which, for me, is freakish. anyhow..back at 'er...new show but still having to deal with some old show stuff..it'll be fine...this one's short.
played hockey last night with corie and the boys...we lost but had a great, or better, third period. my ankle is feeling better and better...
saturday night we went and saw Jackass 2 at the paramount...me, the queen, garbs and corie...stupid but it was exactly what i needed after my emotionally draining day...not for the weak of heart to be sure...

have fun today...

g. xo
