where's the fling flang...call in jingus-he's our man!

there are times of great stress here at the old shop...and every once in a while i get to sneek one past the folks at the office...the other day they asked me to update the crewlist...sure, no problemo. i added the names of a couple guys who had been out with us for a while as well as the world famous jingus jangus. actually i put him down as: jingus "fling flang" jangus. now he's on the crewlist. fling flang and jingus are words we use when we don't have just the right word to describe something...that fling flang, next to the jingus holding the whatsit...like that. now we have a crew member named jingus on our team..i couldn't be more proud.
i smashed up my leg today at work..actually i kinda crushed, or rather, pinched it in between two pieces of steel-one a moving piece, one very stationary...hurt like a bastard...ok now...i just have a dent ion my leg now and a perfectly placed drop of blood on my shoe. yellow mesh with a dot of red..good times...
got my grey king ken in the mail today...the kids at voltage were kind enough to receive it for me. its not as described and actually has some rather disappointing marks on it...i'm bummed...i've sent of a polite e/mail..we'll see how the seller responds...i suspect nothing will happen and i'll just have to klive with it...fuck!
september tomorrow...time to officially kiss summer good-bye...the kids will be going back to school-thank christ, the PNE will close down for another year and i will have missed the entire baseball season...

i need a hot dog...

hockey night in burnaby...

so we hit the ice last night like the champs that we are...and left the ice like the chumps we may actually be...well, we're all old and tired and sore and old and tired and sore...well, i'm all those things anyways...it was a test for the old ankle, which held up pretty well all things considered...our league play starts in a week or so. hopefully i'll be able to skate a little better and will have visted the gym a few more times and have some air in my lungs by then...maybe not...
camile made me an ornament for my car, larry...i haven't put it up yet but will soon enough...thanks camille...i saw her riding her bike to work this morning. it looked like she may have been trying not to be late...

i have no report really...the show is getting dumber and dumber as the days roll along...and we're lovin' it...

easily distracted....by something shiny in the distance.

heading back to work but looking back from whence i came this morning...

jo was nice enough to buy us tickets to cat power last night at richards so last night at 5:00 pm (after i got off work...)..yes the early show, we headed in for the big rock action.
now chan marshal can be very hit or miss...she's been very shy in the past but now has seemingly become more and more of a rambling stoner...it was one of the worst displays of ADD i have ever encountered. songs half done, long rambling versions of songs, jazz vocalesque singing, etc...it was shitola...and i find it hard saying that because i have enjoyed her music so much in the past. mishi and i saw her many years ago in seattle at the opera house and she was shy but still very good. last night he would stop in the middle of songs, talk to the soundman in the middle of songs and talk about the virtues of drinking tea but that it didn't wake her up like liquor does...ok..it was like we were at sound check...good times...some artists should be heard and not seen...and i think for me the worst part was and maybe is..that after every half song and distracted thought, the crowd clapped like it was the best thing they'd ever seen...except for those who decided to leave early...i guess sometimes it doesn't matter what you do on stage, it's just a matter of who you are. just look at the rolling stones.
then we went and had burrito things at steamrollers, i did some shopping at choices and took jo home...and called it a night. jo went dancing in abbottsford and i took pictures in the best parts of town...
home, tv, bed.

good times.

garbs cleans house, garn works it out, corie's lookin' good...

oh man...
so corie and i had to work today on the soon to be major blockbuster 'shooter' starring marky mark...and working next door was the garberator...it's kind of a long story but...the dude who used to be next door to us, a disgusting human being, pulled out in the middle of the night, sold everything-he was a printer, and had declared bankruptcy..or however ya spell it...he stank, he talked too loud, he was all sweaty and...he was there for almost 20 years and it looks as if he never cleaned the joint...paper and crap everywhere...just garbage everywhere...the landlord is our landlord and i saw him over there and he looked like he needed some help so i told him about the garbs...so the garbs cleaned up all day...the best part was when i told him about the raft of printing plates that were there and that i knew were aluminum...80 cents a pound..i told him to ask jeff, the landlord, if he could take them..he did and jeff said sure...take 'em...so we loaded them into my car and i took them to the scrap dealer and got the garbs some more cash...good times..then we found some more so a little more cash is coming the garbs way on monday...he bought himself a toy with the 'found' money...i endorse that of course...he worked hard and deserved a treat...
corie and i worked a way at the shop doing whatever needed to be done...corie is working very hard and having to change things as he goes along, such as it is, and it's hard...i feel for him and try to help where i can...though i'm not that much help to him as i'm not that kind of 'corie' handy so...but i try...today i helped him by sewing some stuff for him...being the seamstress that i am...

i need a vacation...turns out we my be going right onto another show....more on that some other time...

here are today's pics...

i wonder when my grey king ken's gonna get here....

locals only....and don bull of course...

last night after a rather busy day in the salt mines...corie, the queen, mishi, garbs and i headed to topanga for some, well deserved, margaritas and mexican tasty treats...it was a shitter at work for both corie and myself...
when we got there don bull was off in the corner with a dude in a polo shirt, maybe they're dating....and later on a guy in sleeveless t-shirt showed-up and joined them...i think he may have been hot for mr. polo...anyhow...bull was there so we had to deal with him...
KC, who used to work at topanga, dropped by for some snacks with her man...a guy who lives near seattle...i don't think he was crazy about me chatting up his gal but...i bought them cake so i think that made him happy...
the queen ended up at bull's table chatting with the boys but we convinced her to come back to us...
we then dropped by the kits showboat and watched the network dance a little..the kids tried a little arm in arm dance that really didn't work out so well....

well, back at it...good times...

more later...

pne parking, garbs new toy and rude stickers i made for the boys...

it's all about the parking right now around the PNE...little old women and men clammer to get your five bucks for the right to park in or on their front lawn...it's a tradition of sorts. i'm not sure i would hang out all day trying to get folks to park at my place for five bucks or whatever they're charging but...i'm not 65 yet either...i love those crazy kids...
i made a few stickers on my computer. why? i dunno. because i could. they were and are all rather descriptive and rude i suppose. but i don't care. corie was smart and removed his when he went over to the office to drop stuff off for me...
the garbs got a new toy today...the first toy he's actually bought-all the other vinyl he has has been given to him...he's pretty excited i think...i also got the pink(ish) king ken today as well along with the new biskup calli...once again, i'm a retard.
but i'm your retard.

biskup on the left, jarvis on the right...

whoa...

nice...

the ladies...

plywood the windows mable!

to work along powell street..

the shit storm has finally gotten here. every show i work on, at some point, gets completely outta control and we have to pull out all the stops and just spend to cure the problems and work like freaks...that time is now, seemingly. i'm writing purchase orders as fast as i can, sending drivers to all points around the lower mainland and making it all happen within my 12 hours every day...and now as the shit hits we're working weekends and feelin' pretty damn good about it...the long weekend will be a grumpy one around here as production has decided that it's a great weekend to get some shots they've missed done...good times...i love the movies...
last night i had dinner with my uncle glen, my dad's brother..he's a great guy. i like shooting the shit with him. he'll be receiving his lawn order shirt in short order...good trade really...a prawn/chicken burrito for a lawn order shirt..i'd make that deal any day of the week.
the queen of the universe was by today with a coffee for me...so nice of her. and she brought me some kozik toys she had doubles of...pics later on today....she met joel and wondered, as he ranted and raved in the office, if he was always so wound up...no, not always....just most of the time...
on the way home i took a few pics of the sun going down along first ave..and then on the way to work i took some of the sunrising...i'm such a sap...but i like those shots...

more later on...

going home...

stealin' magazines and sweet drumming action...

sometimes when i'm at meinhardt having a sandwich, which by the way are delicious, i find myself face to face with the new york times magazine...it happens at savary island as well...recently it happened in portland at a coffee shop i frequent there...so what? well, i steal them. i have no need for the whole newspaper...have you seen the size of that fuckin' thing? more paper than you could read in a week...anyhow. i only want the magazine. so i take it. it really is a good read. you should steal one somnetime.
i have mentioned this before. sometimes the old ipod brings up songs i haven't heard in a while. songs that remind me of something or songs that are just so fuckin' great or have something that makes them stand out...yesterday i was driving back from commercial drive and a p.w. long song called 'say it ain't so' came on...such sweet drumming on that baby...listen close. so good. i love that song.

funny. as i was getting this blog done. i had to stop to have a conversation with joel, my boss. it didn't go well. he freaked out at me. said he was maybe gonna snap. it was awesome. i did my best not to walk out and quit the show. i love the movies. and all i feel like doing right now is crying.

i love my job.

breakfast with the ladies and good times with the bikers.

it was a busy day this sunday was. it was my only day off this week and i had all sorts of big plans...i didn't do many of them though...i was gonna go buy those powder blue vans-but i didn't. they're on sale because, i think, no one else would dare wear them...i was gonna go to the gym and do some of the exercises the doctor at UBC sports medicine told me to do to help get my ankle back in shape..but i didn't...
what i did do was...fix marcy's flat tire-which included me having to go to the drive and buy a new tube for it...no biggie. i ran into my old biking pal ryan there...sorta funny really..we used to ride together and there i was fixing a bike tire..ok..maybe not that funny. i had breakfast in west van with the network and all the fancy west van ladies...they're entitled and they're fancy...we then went and looked at some of the bikes at the gastwon show and shine-an event i could never be a part of..it wierds me out....but it was fun looking and having a few laughs at others expense. we ran into daisley there..he had a nice hat on. went by voltage to see the kids there...i like those voltage kids...a good pair they are...then i went and saw garbs on granville island...and i had to get the hell outta there...then it was off to scratch records to pick-up the new thom yorke cd...he of radiohead..keith had left it here for me...and i was crashing hard by this point and needed to go and get a coffee...i saw camille at jj bean and she introduced me to the new manager...like he's gonna remember me...or care...and then i ended up in yaletown...why or how i do not know...what the fuck was i thinking?..then my phone indicated that i had a message. it was brady from zulu wondering if i could help them with the recycling..sure, why not? a few cd's for taking the paper away...? no problemo.
i ran the paper and cardboard to the transfer station and then corie called and asked if i wanted to go to Lolita's for dinner, a mexican joint on davie street..it was jammed so we headed over to guu on robson and the network us there...the food's pretty good there...mishi's brother, who had just gotten back from japan, was walking by and came over and gave us the lowdown on his trip...
after dinner i went and did a little grocery shopping and headed home to do a little housecleaning...which i have now done...and soon...bed...now that's a day off...

back at it tomorrow....
