bring on the noize...or snow...whichever.

after i left here this morning the snow really started to happen. it made getting around, at least early on, a bit of deal. but once i found the area i wanted to be in initially i was indoors for quite a while.

i bought a museum pass that will get me into over 19 different museums if i choose to go that route. there are many, many more than that here but at least ten the pass gets me into interest me so it should pay for itself i would think. there is a area called museum island that has, i think, six different museums all within blocks of each other. i went there to start my little tour today - a 15 minute walk from where i am staying.

the first i went to was the neues museum. if you're ever in berlin and looking for everything egyptian...this is your place. it also houses a lot of interesting pieces from germany's history and artifacts from eastern europe. so much to see. in fact, after a while, because it's so large, it becomes somewhat overwhelming.

after that i decided i needed something a little less historic, or at least more recent history and in a different vein altogether. so i made my way over to the helmet newton photography museum. as a major fashion photographer and known largely for his nudes to say there's a lot of skin on display is putting it mildly. but in the works as well are looks at his fashion photography over the years for vogue, etc. and all his cameras are there on display, personal letters and a large series of polaroids. pretty good stuff.

i was a little hungry after all the walking in the snow and had remembered that a local delicacy is the currie wurst. a sausage chopped up and covered in onions and ketchup and then sprinkled with curry powder. really? sure. why not. i had one. i think that will be it unless i am stranded at a bus stop for several hours. and they don't have small, medium and large sizes. they have large, x-large and xx-large...ok.

i went for a bit of a walk after my train ride back but am now feeling a little tuckered out after my weird sleep so i'm gonna chill for a while and see how i feel around dinner time. real food for dinner.
