makin' the scene...with all the cool kids.

huh-what...

anyone who knows me knows that i really don't like a: going out to big functions anymore b: hate crowds c: dislike (generally) going to people's homes for xmas gatherings... i did all that last night. in one night.
the details of how this all happened are kinda fuzzy to me so don't ask...really.
local artist ryan heshka was having some of his pals over for some chit chat and drinks last night so there i was in ryan's livingrom shooting the shit with people i had never met before and some i did know. including a woman i had known from my high school days in tsawwassen and who i haven't seen in many, many years...freaky.
ryan does illustration for magazines and such but also does painting in somewhat mixed media-which i usually hate (mixed media usually sucks....) but i really love his work and own a few of his pieces. in fact, i ended-up buying a piece from him last night that i hd admired for a long time that i was sure had been sold...so...more art at garn's! nice.
check out his stuff at:

then i sauntered over the anti-social, a skate shop on main st. where zulu records were having their 25th birthday party...now a big party such as that i wouldn't normally give a shit but, grant-owner of zulu, personally called me up and invited me so i felt honoured to go have a look...and it was excellent. my pal brady-who works at zulu, his band 'book of lists' was playing and i had never seen them so i was excited to see them...and i have to say, they were great. i loved it. and told brady so afterwards. i love that guy.
i ran into a lot of the cool kids there. old radio friends, band people, stephen balo, erin, vicky, lindsay from jj bean (known in our circle as "huh-what"), etc...i made the scene there kids...then i had to leave...
tonight is the topanga cafe xmas party so i'll be turning it on again tonight....good times...i may also go to auntie fanny's...that could be trouble...

more details later...
