bruce barry was a workin' man...

he used to love that econoline van.

in the late 70's marty basso and i, along with some other plas from time to time, would sit in his parent's house-i guess his house, in prince rupert and listen to music at very high volumes. it was actually his brother's room and dan always had the very best of stereo gear. we would listen to music, talk about girls, drink the odd beer, and listen to more loud music. we would venture out and buy a chow mein bun-that's what they called it, at the pagoda, and then eventually end-up back in dan's room. one of the albums we listened to a lot was the neil young Decade album. a greatest hits record of sorts. tonight's the night was a favorute. "bruce barry was a workin' man, he used to love that econoline (pause) van..." last night just outside of yreka california that song came on the stereo...perfect. and then shortly after....rick james' "give it to me baby"....not as perfect but, have a listen sometime to that song. and listen to rick play that bass guitar. jesus. scary but, i think he knew how to handle that thing.

some shots this morning on the way to the city.

the drive this morning from corning to san francisco was uneventful...as usual. rush hour traffic, near misses, etc...one in the city it became evident that parking was gonna be a problem right downtown...and i don't mean on the street but in the car garages as well....i went into one and got all the way to the top and it was stacked three deep with the attendants saying they could make it work...nope. i'm outta here.

i headed up to haight street instead. kid robot, giant robot, shoe stores, etc...i also went against all conventon and bypassed pancho villa to try a place i have always wanted to try, el balazo. pretty good but the chicken wasn't hot enough so by the end of it, it was kinda cold...i give it a 7 overall.

i bought some shoes. i had wanted a pair of adidas last year but thought they were too narrow for my ultra wide feet. i saw these babies though and i had to give them a try. a pair of adidas with graphics designed by dave kinsey. they are either super ugly or great. they feel good...i like 'em. i also picked-up a book at upper playground that features the art of Morning Breath. they are a san francisco collective, kind of. two graphic design guys ho started collaberating on art together. i had seen their stuff before at another store that's now closed. their work is excellent.
check 'em out.

i left the city and am now in los gatos trying to track down sheryl...i don't have her number...i e.mailed her so...we'll see. i'll go to her place as well and try and find her...if not, it's dinner and on to LA and the art show at black market.
