an early start

on the way home tonight 'northline' by richmond fontaine came on the stereo in my car. it seemed right. that song always seems right but after the night i had it seemed even more fitting. not so much for it's lyrical content or somber tone but more for it's pacing. shortly before it had been lcd soundsystem ramping it up with something needed to bring it all back down and 'northline' did just that.
i decided after the lawn cutting today and the burrito gift that i should head out to topanga and have myself a margarita and a snack of some sort. i would like to have had a margarita on my birthday but topanga's closed on sundays - damn them - so tonight it was. an early start on the 44th year. corie brought gal pal rachel, who had never been to the topanga before, and i grabbed the kids off granville island. and then it started, the first of several pitchers of lime margs. yikes. so damn tasty. rachel enjoyed her first visit to the house of tom i think and finished off her visit with a little cake. nice. it must have been a good time, i ended up wearing a sombrero - not a good look.
after dinner we dropped by don king to make sure they could handle a whole bunch of folks for the dinner tomorrow night - no problem. so tan tan it shall be. then it was off to the emily carr grad show where hipster lisa was graduating. she read my palm and said i should start writing again - so here it is. we ran into devon there -which is always a treat...soon devon, we will eat sushi! i also ran into an old friend of mine, kim, who used to work at netwerk records many years ago who, tonight, was slinging beer for the party...we, too, shall have a snack soon as well...
then it was time to go home. to many hipster dufus' in one place, at one time is a little too much for us old guys...

ok. night, night.
