between a want and a need to...
"there will be a general lack of toast in the neighbourhood this morning"
true west
the lemonheads...those were the days to be sure. early 90's rock by cute evan dando...they actually rocked for a while but it all kinda went away...but i loved the 'shame about ray' album...we, my crew back then-my crew...that's funny, we all had that album...saw the lemonheads a bunch of times, stayed up late listening to it, along with palace brothers 'viva last blues' and bad religion records...we had a rule in the hosue then, when i lived with dave reese and brent belke, that there was no going to bed before 3 a.m. ...i have no idea why now...we would eat lots of issy's tomato pie, make veggie bacon and egg sandwiches and watch late night sports. there was a lot of cereal in the house as well, sometimes in the teens of different boxes...there were lots of nights spent sitting at the 7-11 down the block as well enjoying slurpees and watching cars drive by...good times...some things were perfect just the way they were back then...i was thinking that today...somethings are just perfect the way they are..i know that sounds super flaky and hippy but it's true... burritos, certain cereals, coffee, some roads i've been on just driving around...perfect...and today i was driving back from gettig a burrito and a coffee and lucinda williams came on the stereo...in eureka california recently 'metal firecracker' came on as i was driving through and it, for some reason, was the perfect song for right then...later on i replayed it as i drove through the redwoods...somethings can't be explained...it was one of those times. today it was 'i lost it' as i drove down powell street in the rain wishing i didn't have to go back to work...i finished off the drive back with a 'real live bleeding fingers and broken guitar strings'...it all seems ok now..except there will be a general lack of lawn cutting in the neighbourhood today...
good times...
