mowing with larry, moving with debbie

last night, as i watched a movie at home - and falling asleep on the couch - , my phone rang a few times with someone's name on the call display i didn't know...so, i didn't answer it - i hardly ever do...especially if i'm half awake on the couch on a friday night...when i finally made it off the couch and was going to bed i thought i'd check the messages just in case...well, it was debbie, who had been moving and she was in a tight space...or as she said - i'm fucked!
turns out after she had moved her stuff out of her place and down to a storage place on powell - maple leaf storage - (she's in a holding pattern because all the stuff is soon being taken to toronto...her new home...) but she hadn't gotten everything in the storage locker in time, they close at 8:30 p.m. , and they locked all the elevators and doors. and she had her wallet, cash, a computer, keys to her car, etc, up on the floor she was moving into. she called security and they in turn called the live-in manager, who told them, debbie and the mover, that he wasn't opening the doors or turning on the elevator - even though she said she wouldn't be able to leave because her keys were on the top floor near her now open locker, with all her stuff outside it, and stuff still in the elevator. to maker a long story short, now impossible, she eventually got upstairs - with no help from the live-in manager - and made her way home. but now had all the stuff to still put in her locker in the morning...so, she asked, if i could, come and help her at 7:30 a.m. this morning. yes, i can. i did. along with her pals leslie and craig and we had it done in 30 minutes. all done. and still no sign of the caretaker. nice work dipshit. sure, there are rules, we get it but...a little help.
the best part was i had no car to get there this morning, as i lent the car to chris who was then giving it to shauna...and the comet battery was dead...so, the people's limo it was...good times...but all done.

also last night i received an e.mail from my pal rosanne who is doing work with local art dude paul wong...turns out they're having an opening (i believe anglea fama's photos show two face) tonight at vivo on main st. and the grass in front of their place, vivo, was in need of a cut...hhmmm...ok..no element to use, comet has a dead battery...ok...ok...well, as luck would have it, debbie gave me a ride home after we moved all her stuff in to the locker and then gave larry a jump start and i was away...yup. i was off to load the lawn gear in the back of the comet and do my bit for the arts...and it was a jungle - i don't think paul wong's much for cutting grass...smoking it for sure, cutting it not so much.
and so it is. lawn cut. stuff moved. and, while i was there, i did a little more table work while i was at the shop and some lawn order billing...
ok. now off to meet floyd and janine downtown for a little lunch and meet a pal of his, bud...love the name, probably a great old guy...

have fun...
