when the going gets weird...

..the weird drive 1896 kms...yup, i passed my old personal - yes, slightly retarded - best of 1831 kms in one day by 65 kms...fuck. that's a lot of driving in one go...i did try and take a little lie-down break and sleep a few hours at one point but couldn't sleep so i just kept going...
so..after being sent packing by the blaine border dudes, i went home and re-grouped. after several phone calls to the idaho border, 'he who can not be named on the blog' and mishi, i went to bed thinking about my options...at 2:15 am i got up and decided to head to idaho and let the chips fall where they may...what followed was hellish...
because i was crossing into idaho instead of washington i had to drive along the bottom of BC to get there...holy crap...
terrible weather, lots of snow, ice, rain, you name it, it was wicked...it took me from the time i left the hooker chevron on powell street at 3:30 am until 2 pm to get to the idaho border at creston...
i parked the car on the canadian side and walked over to the US side and had a little chit chat before i drove my car onto US soil...they said they didn't care about my driving infractions, as long as i didn't have any warrants out for my arrest...ok, i have none...let's go. so i walked back and got my car...and drove to the window on the US side and wham! well, you can come in but your car has a problem...so inside i went and after a long sit down, which had me explaining why i had, or rather why my car had been flagged as bringing in commercial goods illegally - which it has never done - and then going through my car and giving it the once and twice over, i was finally away...headed south to tucson.
and then the weather really turned...it was that great star wars snow storm where it's coming at you in a straight line...and the rain, and the slush and the fact that you're on a two lane highway - i had to take this to get to the interstate - that made this drive hellish...i'll step out on a limb and say this...this trip, or the first portion of it from vancouver to idaho falls, was and is potentially, the worst driving experience i have ever had...period. and i don't mind saying, i was scared...like, really scared something bad may at any moment, happen. something bad. i couldn't see where i was going, it was impossible to pull off - nowhere to pull off, cars following too close behind, cars with their high beams on coming at me, sometimes seemingly in the wrong lane, me in the wrong lane, etc...all bad...but, i made it and am no worse for the wear..i don't think.
so then it was this that first night...a five hour sleep in mullen, montana next to an old gas station and up again at 2 am to get driving towards missoula...then to butte and finally a real southern deccent. through montana, back into idaho - where they know have an in-n-out burger location...weird -, into arizona, into nevada, through the hoover dam and back into arizona and finally sleep in kingman, arizona. nice.
after a nice shower in kingman this morning, my first shower and clothes change since my shower at home monday morning, i was ripe i'll tell you, i was away and headed towards tucson...five more hours-ish and i am now here...and ready for some nico's tacos and little poca cosa food...
spike (real name renee), who i am visiting here put her back out yesterday so....i'm not sure what we're gonna be able to do together but i'm hoping it gets better - for her sake not mine - i can entertain myself here just fine....

ok...so. there ya have it..it's beautiful here, the weather is great, i'm gonna head to trader joe's and get some groceries and sleep like a champ tonight. tomorrow, i dunno what's up.

more as it comes in.
