...not mine, the flipped over car thing...but i did see one today. the drive between los gatos and santa cruz takes you up one side of a mountain pass and down the other..it's a tricky drive. lots of turns and switchbacks and if you're tired or not paying attention, you can get fucked..it's two lanes each way but you can get stuck in front of a guy who wants you to speed up and it wears on you...the last time i drove through there, late at night, a car had run into a tree coming down the hill towards los gatos - i was going the opposite direction towards santa cruz..today the same direction except literally seconds before i came around a corner - me going up the mountain - a car had just, and i'm assuming what happened here, been coming down the hill and going too fast, and the roads were wet and slick, and had failed to make the turn at the corner and smashed into the barrier in the centre, flipped over a few times and ended up on its side facing down the hill...other cars had stopped and people were running towards the car that still had the person inside it...the looks on the faces of the people was amazing, so scared looking , like they were scared to look into the car as they moved towards it...there was still smoke from the car hitting the barrier and causing oil and such to spill out...it was fucked...
hey issy...just so you know, i've worn my set belt the entire trip thus far and will continue to do so...
ok..so..
i left tucson yesterday afternoon and headed to phoenix...the weather had begun to change and rain was forcast for a long while ahead...also, spike's parents are due to arrive shortly and since i had kept her from getting shit done, and her bad back also making her get behind, i thought four days of me was enough...i had a great time hanging out with renee...good food - lots of it, and some nice visiting...that's all i wanted and it was great..
i got into phoenix and wasn't planning on staying there but was really tired and needed a little nap...i often, when on the road driving, fade in the afternoon and need to have some down time, so i took a little in the cabela's parking lot...then was on my way again a little fater 6 pm...and after one more in-n-out burger....
i drove out the I-10 towards LA but headed up at quarzite and made my way to the I-40mand onto barstow and finally had a nap just southeast of bakersfield...and woke to a car covered in snow...nice..
today has been ok, a short time making my way through the snow in the mountains for a while but otherwise it's been ok...and now i am enjoying a carne asada burrito in santa cruz...i'm gonna grab a coffee in los gatos and then head to san francisco and see if i can track down sheryl and/or laurie...or neither...
more as it develops...
