eating...and thinking about eating...

so, since i rolled in here yesterday it's been a hurricane of eating..okay, maybe not a hurricane of activity in the eating dept., but a lot of mexican food has been consumed...last night it was some carne asada style action at the guadaljara grill...pretty good fare but kinda a family style joint...spike had some fish action there which she seemed to enjoy...this morning we had breakfast here and then went out driving around looking at what there was to see...having been here twice in the last couple of years - one time for a week where i just kinda lived like a local - i know my way around well and have seen most of the action and know what i kinda want to see again...we dropped by the hotel congress yesterday as well and looked at the calendars they offer up each year...mexican themed pictures with the hotel name on them - i bought a few a few years ago and will be giving them away once i get back this time...we also went and looked at fancy tequila today...just 'cause we could...
lunch today was at little cafe poca cosa...i had been to cafe poca cosa before but this is a new place they have opened that caters to more of a breakfast and lunch crowd...cafe poca cosa is a fancy place that serves up fancy mexican fare but this place is a little more casual but the food is amazing, truly. they have a menu, of course, but one of the choices is the plato poca cosa, where they decide on three items to give you...kinda like a surprise...and what a great surprise...i had three soft tacos each with a different filling...one pork, one beef and one chicken...and nice salad and beand and tortillas...it was so great...if i lived here i'd live at that place...spike had a nice veggie tamale, that was just slightly sweet..wicked! oh..and they have a lemonade they spike with basil....mucho wicked...try it...
they're having their winter street fair here right now, and while i'm not a street fair guy, it was interesting to see some of the hippie shit they have here in tucson...lots of cool mexican wrestler masks and carved shit...
tonight was dinner at frank's/francisco's..kinda two restaurants in one...in the day it's a greasy spoon diner - franks's - and at night it's a mexican diner place - francisco's...it was great...loved it..sure, no poca cosa but...nice..i had a #4...a beef sopa, a couple enchiladas and a chicken flauta....more wicked! spike had a veggie burrito...
before dinner tonight we went to a grocery store called food city which caters primary to the latino community and it has some great stuff...i think i'm gonna go there and do some serious shopping tomorrow and bring back the goodness to the big city....
tomorrow we're going to green valley to spike's parent's place to get it sorted out before their arrival on tuesday...i may put up the xmas lights there as well...
and that's that...oh, i went to a toy store today...

ok..

good times...
