whataburger, what a shithole....yup, it's true, el paso sucks. well, in all fairness maybe it doesn't but of what we saw of it, it sure does. there may be more malls - both strip or otherwise, than either of us has ever seen in our lives...ever. it's insane. we drove all around el paso today and it was impossible for us to go more than a few blocks without seeing a mall of some sort - no shit. and old el paso - downtown, looks mainly like any mexican border town you've ever seen...
and i've finally decided that the USA coffee shops have a love affair with the stream wand on their espresso machines - it's (again) impossible to get a coffee that hasn't had the shit steamed out of the milk...boiled in fact. good times.
also in the spirit of fairness we tried whataburger tonight to compare it with sonic...and sonic wins...good burger at whataburger but it's no sonic...and sonic is no in-n-out burger...nothing is.
we left marfa this afternoon and headed back el paso way...on the way we drove through valentine, texas. a small town, 200 people-ish, and it has some of the most run-down buildings anywhere. it warranted a load of pics that you may view before at your leisure.
we leave el paso tomorrow, thankfully, around 6:30 pm and will be hitting the seatac tarmac around 11:30 pm....nice....
see ya soon.
