your new social director garn

hottie gets down.

yup, i've been out making the scene...
saturday was the day to get shit done. shauna and i ran a ton of errands that took us to every part of vancouver and back again and then out to richmond to cut the dog lawn - that thing really doesn't need any more attention from me this year, well, maybe a trim or two before the end of the lawn order season but im gonna leave that decision up to dr. yvonne. most of the lawns are now slowing down and really only need a lookin' at every ten days or so...this is so interestng to all of you i know...shauna also managed to score a great little saeco coffee machine from a guy off of craigslist...75 bux for a machine very simliar to mine...and he threw in a grinder. pretty good. ok.
after i finished lisa's lawn shauna and i met-up with the garbs and mishi and went and hossed-down at sali thai on burrard street. i love that place. we ate like champs...after the thai hoe-down shauna and i went and met hottie and her 'date' kenneth, side note - what's with names like that? kenneth, why not just ken? or kenny?...we met them at six acres, a new hipster joint near my place near gassy jack. they were drinking something called a wreck beach...i opted for a stella. we were meeting them before we trucked off to a 'dance party' - i know what you're thinkin' - garn and dance party are one in the same...yup...there was a benefit for the helen pitt gallery in the old sam the record man location on seymour street. so after we finished our drinks and kenneth had made it clear he didn't dance to 'modern music' (what the hell?....) hottie, shauna and i walked up to the dance action. it was kinda like a dimly lit rec-room party. and while i/we heard that the first dj rocked the house like no other - according to scenester rob brownridge, the second dj needed a few lessons in discretion. just because you have a turntable and your pals are egging you on doesn't mean you have to try your hand at scratchin'....brandy and becky from the regional assembly of text made the scene as did, as mentioned earlier, rob brownridge - former co-worker of mine from cbc and now man about town and frequent party army guy. when shauna and i were leaving rob commented to shauna that she was hanging out with a radio celebrity and asked if we knew each other...
we didn't last long and and left to go return hottie to her place and my mowers to their final resting spot for the weekend at lawn order central. then it was time for some sleep. big day out.
sunday was dog day. after we finally got our collective shit together we gathered up devon and headed over to north van and the tomahawk restaurant - somewhere neither devon or shauna had been too...there was a lot of meat involved there...not on devon's part but on my plate there was enough bacon to choke even the garbis. good times.
then it was off to lighthouse park - somewhere i had never actually been...i don't think....stella went for a run and drooled on a lot of stuff as did devon. we were all full of eggs and such so a walk was great. as we were leaving i ran into dr. rob and karen who were there to have a little runaround there own selves. love those kids. i have been trying to get together with rob for a little burrito action but have lost sight of making the actual plan as work seems to get in the way....this week phone calls will be made. and hopefully burriots will be eaten.
after our wilderness adventure we made our way to to the big city and down to granville island to do the final assembly of the frames for the dzama pieces. a huge thank-you once again to suzanne for all her help in making it all go smoothly. i gave her one of the 'maybe arizona' photos as a thank-you thingy for helping me. hopefully she'll have somewhere in her place to hide it. the dzama's look great. now i have to find somewhere to put them.
sunday night was dinner at west night. i told shauna i would take her out for a nice non-topanga dinner and suggested there. i've been there a few times, once with issy who loved it, and thought shauna would like it. the service there is very good and only exceeded in quality by the actual food. i won't list off the snacks but i had a little bison action and shauna made do with some halibut. (there was also some cold melon soup and lobster in there....)....it was great...i think shauna liked it...
we then re-gathered devon and headed off to a weddding reception at the alibi room for a friend of shauna's, joyce, who works at the alibi room. it was low-key enough that i didn't lose my marbles....and then we.....ok. that was it.

today?... i dunno...i think there's something...we'll see. i'm hoping there's some sitting and doing nothing at some point.
