the coolerator does seattle

i'm not sure i should have gone to seattle today but i did. i had to go down to see my good pal libby, who had e.mailed me a couple of weeks ago and had offered me her large steel neon letter 'g'. how could i resist? i had seen it when we-marc, brent, mina and i, were at her place last summer. so even though my head felt like ten pounds of shit stuffed into a five pound bag i headed off down the I-5 to seattle and libby's place in wallingford. i know libby because of my friendship with marc and brent. she met them when they were playing in SNFU, shit they were SNFU-you know what i mean..anyhow, she knew marc and brent and she was also friends with some of the people who lived at 1266 (i think) granville street. sort of a punk rock house/apartment near davie street where a ton of artist types lived or crashed. it like a hit parade of names from the past when i talk to her..we know a lot of the same people from that time period..late 80's, early 90's...her man plays in a band with dave alvin..or he plays in dave alvin's band...i like libby..she be good people. libby does upholstry, which i can never spell, and does t-shirts and is basically super cool. she's about to open a new website and when i get the address i'll pass it along...there may be stuff there you'd like to buy.
so i went to libby's and after loading the neon into the coolerator, we went for breakfast at hattie's hat in ballard. hattie's is very close to the tractor tavern which is where richmond fontaine often plays when they play seattle. after breakfast we roamed around and ended up at archiee mcphee's..a crazy store that basically sells everything you don't need.
i had decided that it was better i went home rather than go shopping or for coffee or anything that took too much effort...i need more rest and these alergies are really kicking my ass...i'll be couchbound tonight to be sure...hopefully the canucks will make my day complete and lose to the mighty oil...i can only hope.

good times...

when ...

so i just got a call from gary economy...he won't be able to put the door panels in today. i'm not going to get into the reasons for htis but i will say that i am beginning to lose faith. i may have to take the job out of his hands soon. i feel very badly saying this but it may have to be that way. he does excellent work but getting him pinned down to a time and such is a fucking nightmare. and last night after much heartache i got the car all ready for him so he could do it all this afternoon. what a fuckin' waste of my night last night.

ok. cool.

g.

fuckin' alergies

so i woke up this morning and my throat was almost completely swollen shut...the little dingly thing that hangs in the back of your throat..well mine is all swollen..it's awesome. makes it a little hard to swallow. i love it. i took some drugs so hopefully it'll get better soon...
i'm suppose to meet gary economy, real name, today to get the windlace and panels put into my car...so close now...i have been driving larry around but with the final little things done it'll be great...finally. i am driving to seattle saturday sometime and would love to drive larry instead of the coolerator...
last night i drove all over town looking for a certain tool i needed to get the doors ready for gary but couldn't find it anywhere..went to the shop, called rob, went by stevie janz's...nothing..then..there it was at home in the 'eats' cupboard. then 30 minutes later it was all done...then..down the alergy road to the swollen throat...

good times...

det. cord and the on-set vortex

so there it was kids...6:45..so close...joel had said we/i may have to go to set for the first few shots of their day, my end of day...6:45...6:46..closer all the time..then it came..down i went..with wheel barrows and shovels in the back of the coolerator. i was suppose to have dinner with my dad and my uncle but that looked bleak now..and as it turns out they went to topanga aways without me...i hope the burritos were good. later on i would be eating chinese from don king on 12th anyhow...but later.
so it was a couple of extra hours last night in the on-set vortex..it'll make for a couple extra bucks on next week's cheque. it was kinda funny though when i was asked to go get the det. cord from the shop. it's housed in a red plywood box that really, truth be told, is shit. but what made it funny is this. ever since 911 they have made it very hard, seemingly, for regular folks to get down to the docks and commisioner road where the docks are. canada keeping terror out... you must now pass through a toll plaza kind of a station, tell a voice through a speaker what you're up to, flash some i.d. and away you go... your tax cash at play right there in front of you. fact is, bud kanke's cannery restaurant is down there so anyone can just say they're going to get some clam chowder and away they go. and there i was, with enough det. cord to blow the entire block, getting breezed through like a fully loaded taco time seven layer burrito.
oh..and out of nowhere comes my pal pete...who by trade i suppose is more of a rock and roll recording engineer/producer dude..but there he was doing the EPK shitola..electronic press kit...the stuff they do to try and promote the movie so it will make tons of cash but people getting all geared up about it..and then it wins an oscar...right.
i love pete. i've seen him naked. at hockey.
good times.

have fun.

the saviour of misbehaviour

oh god..it's been a rough couple of days in the world of celluloid. that coupled with problems with marcy's car, which in the end-thankfully, have gone away without too much trouble-so far. it's all good in the end but while shit's happening, or not happening, it can make a guy go greay pretty fuckin' fast. hard on the old ticker...i was having such a meltdown last night after work that i actually hung up on the garberator and mishi on two different occassions...i'm publically apoligizing for that right here, right now...we all went for sushi in the end and it was fine...i think. we ate like champs. i think our waitress was a bit stunned by how much we could eat...oh well...another round of everything...
the rain has returned..for now. i had thought that, and was getting excited by the prospect of, i'd be starting to cut lawns again soon...that sentence made no sense..sorry. i am getting excited about cutting lawns...there. when the sun was out i saw other guys cutting grass and using the weed eaters and i was jealous...seriously.
more retro photos today...this time from a dinner years ago with mishi, dr. rob, pam and tobe... i can remember it well..i ordered chicken and got tuna...fuckin' cin cin...enjoy the photos...more coming soon...don bull at the beach...you'll wanna stay tuned for that one...

hey tony...

yup..another sunday has arrived and it's time for tony.. if you saw last week you'll know old tony's in trouble...we'll see soon enough what's what...

as for my sunday report..well...i lazed around the house until almost 1 pm doing a litte cleaning up and messing about but finally got out of the yard and made my way to the templeton where they won't take my money...so i just give whoever serves me a big old tip...12 buck tip today...the other night mishi, garbs and i went there and they compted the whole thing...i must do good work...then it was off to cafe artigiano where there were so many fuckin' people you'd think they were givin' away free coffee and donuts...then the garbs called and came down there and met us and we piled him into the back of jojo's car and headed back to the hood...he doesn't fit so well in the back of a Acura RSX...
the garbs and i then headed up to main street and voltage to see erica and christian..i bought mishi a toy for doing me a favor and christian kinda bought me a little somethin'...he bought me a URL for my blog so it's easier for people to find....so check it out...www.garnville.com
i thought that was very nice of him...good guy...both of them-erica and christian...

ok..update,..breaking news...the high def feeds are fucked on shaw...nice...great. this rules. thanks shaw!

infatuated with a lunatic

i've always liked that line...there's more to it than that, from a song by 'the afghan whigs' called 'what jail is like'. about being cornered by something, someone. feeling like you have to defend yourself once things get to a certain point, maybe too close, a time when you need to let someone know what your deal is, your past, maybe your future...anyhow. i mean nothing by any of this. i was just listening to the whigs in the car today and that song came on. i miss the afghan whigs. at a certain point in my life they were an intergral part of my life. greg dulli knew what i was going through. or so i thought. anyhow...on to today's report.

i still can't stop listening to the new cat power cd. i can't. every fuckin' morning and every fuckin' night...i listen to it. that and the chris page cd which i'm listening to right now. i listened to the chris page cd over and over on the way to and from portland last time.

last night i went to dinner at some japanese bbq joint on denman. it was good..and hold on..i ate pork. and things wrapped in bacon. and more pork. that and a gian beer, which we split, jojo and myself, so it wasn't really that much truth be told. jojo lived in japan for four years so she kinda knows what's what..even if she is a little insane...and i mean that in the best possible way. then after the pork, there was some chicken and tofu included as well but the pork really stands out for me..., we decided to get some desert at cafe crepe on robson just 'cause it was close...as we were driving up robson and had just past bute and drunk kid, who i guess had decided i wasn't moving fast enough so he could jaywalk across the street, kicked my car on the rear panel..nice. after all the heartache i've gone through with larry...so long story short...i stopped the car and made it quite clear that whta he had done was unacceptable. i also made it clear to his pal who was trying to get me to stop yelling at his friend, that if he continued to keep trying to get me to stop i was gonna hurt him as well...the girlfriend tried as well to get me to understand he was just drunk and i told her that i could give two shits about anything that was coming out of her mouth...and how...it all ended fine. larry has no dents or scratches that i can see and we got our crepe....

i also watched Nine Lives last night. an interesting collection of stories all shot in one take with no edits. hard to do. they all kind of come together but not in some really cohesive way, i liked it.

skippy tornack and i are playing hockey tonight at GM place against Stargate-sadsacks....should be entertaining as i am basically disabled when it comes to my legs...sprained ankle i'm just getting over, a calf muscle that could have a torn something, and a sore foot that i have no idea how i hurt it...as long as i look good out there...then later on it's snacks with jessica and maybe tornack if he wants to come...where? well, topanga of course...

oh...and i put my paycheque thorugh the was as well as a refund cheque for $1900.00 from the government...excellent.

tomorrow night is Sopranos...thank god it's back. 8 pm...good times..

i love you all...

where the hell is my Wings greatest hits cd? my jeff buckley 'grace' cd? palace brothers 'viva last blues' cd? i think muc has my ramones dvd...i know skippy tornack is hording a bunch of my cd's...i think i lost a few in the honda as it was broken into lately...a david bowie cd is now in some assholes cd player...bad karma dude, bad karma.

books? anyone have books of mine? i think pam has some that i gave her but i have no idea what i gave her...i feel good if it's pam who has them..i know they're well loved...

well it's all good news at this point. ella has not broken her hip as previously suspected. she has a hairline fracture which should be able to be fixed through rehab and a rest. good times. no missed bingo for ella. no operation just a few more pain pills to help her along.
thanks to all of you who said a little prayer for ella...

g. xo

um..i think someone forgot to tell me something....

ok..this is a varied report so pay attention....

first. i was at home the other night and had a message on my machine from my cousin joanne. a second cousin but still a cousin. i really like her. she's about my mom's age, so around 29, and lives in burnanby. i never see her but am happy when i do. she was calling to tell me about a service that was being held for her father, my uncle ken, as he had died in january. huh? was someone going to call me and tell me this? 'hey garn. your uncle ken passed away." pretty simple. he was the brother of my grandfather, my father's father, who i was named after. make sense? my grandfather's brother. maybe next time someone dies someone will tell me. so say a little prayer for ken harry today...better late than never.

so the house thing, which i was very vague on, was back on the last few days and an offer was made. a pretty good offer i thought but one that i was sure would be rejected and a counter offer made. nope. no counter offer. he figures it's up to me to come up with a better offer. but i won't be forced into making a new offer, because homie don't play the game that way...learn to negotiate or don't play the game. good times. it's all good. i'll go back to my original plan of spending all my savings...which means for now..i'm out.

i took larry out last night and met up with andy, julie and newly hatched taylor piet...and a friend of thier's whose name i have forgotten..i'm such and asshole..i think it's dave..fuck..anyhow...very nice guy. and mishi said i should mark this day on my calendar as the night i willingly went to topanga with a child. and i have to say, that kid is the best behaved kid i've ever seen. julie says she's thinking she may have to stop now as she'll never this lucky with kid again. he seems to like topanga...who doesn't?

for those of you who may want to watch a fine example of how not to play hockey...skippy tornack and i will be, unless we're called into work, playing hockey on the 'Rogue' team against 'Stargate' on saturday at GM Place. the same place those lowly sadsacks the canucks play. i don't know what time but i think it's 6 pm...

as the movie turns..so right after this future oscar winner wraps up we'll be starting another future golden globes winner. The Shooter starts right after this one kicks it and runs into sept...so good-bye summer...that's ok...as long as i get to go to portland for at least a long weekend i'll be happy...who's in ti? what is it? i have no idea. i think someone must get shot.

hey...it's payday...good times.

have fun...more details as they come about.

no good deed goes unpunished

so i had to get some groceries for the shop to feed my boys and thought i would do it at night...easier. and i knew, from talking to mishi earlier, that she wanted to go to capers, so i phoned her up and told her i'd come and get her and we'd go to get some groceias.
no problemo. right? well, it is or was until i got pulled over by the fuzz. as we all know, garn's got a lot of tickets for parking without paying. or paying and staying away too long. anyhow...tickets? i got 'em. the wierd thing is that i had actually done nothing wrong. they just ran my plates 'just because'. i asked them. they say they can do that if they want. he was very cool. very nice but...and it makes sense really, a heatscore like mine on robson street. two weeks ago the garberator and i got stopped by the police, even though we were actually parked, and asked when i was gonna pay the tickets. sure, it's my fault, but to just randomly run my plates..dicks!
so i'm gonna go down today and have a chat with the judge and see what we can do...good times. i'm also gonna renew my commercial plate.

then... this morning as i'm leaving for work there's a note in my elevator saying that today they will be pressurewashing the parkade and all vehicles need to be moved so they can do this...great. thanks for the advance warning so i could find somewhere for my comet. so i had to come to work, get my shit in line here, then go home and move shit...larry is now in a parkade where he'll probably get broken into...and my motorcycle is in a bike locker area...i hate my management company...more dinks!

have a great day..i love you all...

them things is creepy...

so, not really a report but more of a picture update. there have been no pics for a few days so here ya go. at the pne they're getting ready for something and storing these ride characters in the back parking lot near the stables. i'm not sure what ride they're for but i thought i'd take a picture for no other reason than i drive by each day and see them there. i'm often attracted to shiney things in the distance.
there's also a picture of corie 'skippy' tornack and dan going over some maps that correspond to where there are bullet hits... very high-tech...i have no idea what it's all about...
and someone had a little accident today on the granville bridge on-ramp off of hemlock..how that idiot got completely turned around i have no idea...good times though...shortly after that i saw another accident on powell but couldn't get a decent picture...you'll just have to imagine it - stupid fucking idiot plowed into another dork near victoria and powell causing traffic tie-up, details at 11.
oh..and there's a picture of half-gay lemay..he's not half gay or even partially gay...we just call him that. it started out as half-day lemay but now it's half-gay...good guy...

good times.... i'm all full of tuna fish and tomato soup...

grannie update...

for those of you keeping score at home my grannie is recovering in hospital in port alberni. she's on some good meds so she's in no pain and i guess they're just trying to decide whether or not they'll operate. she's a tough cookie so i'm not worried. issy's over there now looking in on her and has gotten her a telephone and a tv with all the channels so she's all set-up...go ella!
did i mention i had my birthday dinner friday night with fawn, skippy tornack, diana and jessica? well, i did. i'm still 41 but will turn 42 in short order. i think i like the idea of having a birthday dinner well before my actual birthday...gives me time to work up to it...get used to the idea..
as far as my real birthday is concerned..sure, i'll be 42 in a little while. all i want for my birthday this year is a clear chum...those who know will know what that is...so start saving your pennies...a black chum would be fine too. or a black accomplice. details to those who care.

trust.

oh..and a while back i reported that revenue canada had given me a call, in the middle of what was a very nice lunch at kirin on alberni street, and told me i owed them $2600.00-now! so i paid them. my accountant, who is driving me nuts, said i would probably get most of it back on my personal tax as it was a business CCP thing..whatever. so yesterday in the mail came a cheque for $1900.00... because they reassessed what i owed on my personal...idiots!

they're back....

i don't have that much to report but felt i should say but thought i should say something...i left my computer at work over the weekend so i was out of touch. we worked saturday on the shoot 'em up jet li flickola..good times. i love working on saturdays..awesome. i guess it'll help me pay for my new neon letter 'g' which i may head down to seattle to get next saturday or sunday...unless i'm working of course..
watched Walk the Line for the thrid time on saturday night..i know...i know...what an idiot...but i really like that flick and what the hell. i also watched 'The Weatherman' with nick cage too..i'm not sure what it was all about in the end but it was good..in a nick cage kind of a way..
sunday was the big day...worked on larry for a bit just giving him a reasonable clean and wash..got the stereo working again, put things where they're suppose to be, etc..it was nice driving the wagon around on a nice day...this week i'll hopefully get the windlace and panels in and it'll be all done...then it was time for the sopranos. a whole new season, after almost 2 years of waiting...it was great...daisley came over to watch it as did megan, the garbs and mishi...nice ...daisley brought japanese treats , pocky and nipple covers...i dunno...next week same day, same station....
so..not much to really report but there ya have ut...

i love you

ps...my grannie fell and broke her hip...so say a little prayer for her and send some light her way...go ella go...

to good to be true...

so i was making some rather cryptic references to things the last week or so regarding buying something...well, now it looks as if the thing i was going to be buying, a house on main street, is a goner. i was actually going to be buying into the house and would have been a 50% owner, but it looks as if one of the owners of the house has decided i'm not going to , as paul simon once said, "take his codachrome away"...and has decided he's gonna stick it out and do what i was gonna do, buy 50% of the house and own it with his former partner/wife...such a long story. anyhow..looks like that's not going to happen now...he's gonna try and buy her out even though he has no money at all...i don't know him but it seems kinda like he's just trying to keep what is his and not let some other guy come in and take it away...which isn't what i'm trying to do at all...i was about to offer him a pretty decent amount of cash for his portion...i guess not now. it's cool. i'll spend the money on something else.

good times.

good times, the coolerator rides again...

although i haven't actually gotten him yet, the coolerator is well enough to leave the shop. laurie was able to get him back on his feet and i'm going to go and get the coolerator at lunch...i asked the queen of the universe if she'd take time out of her busy schedule and take me there, like she has nothing better to do...i felt bad, as i always do asking anyone to help me out, but doubly so because she's getting ready for a date tomoorow night and i didn't want to upset her focus. good times.
so the good lord willing i'll be driving the coolerator across the second narrows by 2 pm...nice. i love the coolerator.

the clubhouse

a few years ago i decided that i needed an office of some sort..i'm not sure why but i had this romantic vision of having a place to go. a place to just hang out. in a perfect world there would have been a tv, stereo and high speed interweb...in the end it only had high speed internet and a great view of the goings on at carroll and hastings. on any summer night you could sit on the sill of the large windows that overlooked the street and see the very open drug store. hookers, wannabe pimps, drug dealers, down and outters and the odd cop walked around as if the rest of the world didn't even exist. it was cool. i had rented the space with two good pals of mine, james and renee. we were never, ever there at the same time and truthfully, i don't think much ever went on there. i tried to write there but would get distracted by the internet or the action below the window. eventually i just stopped going there very much, renne exited after a while and was replaced by someone else who shall not be named, james had a good set-up there with his electronics gear and probably used it more than anyone. it was a good place, the clubhouse and one day i'd love to have another place like it. maybe it was premature, maybe i never really needed it at all but thought i did. it was a cheap experiment. i don't regret it a bit.
anyhow..i was just thinking about the place after i spoke with james today. he's a good guy. i like him. i think i'll e.mail renee and tell her i love her and miss her.

say hey for kirby...

few played the game like kirby. it's the truth. kirby, cal and mark were players unlike any others really. they didn't negotiate contracts, they took what they were offered realizing they were the luckiest guys in the world to be playing a game for boys. a game that gave them everything they'd ever need. cal ripken, jr., mark fidrych and kirby puckett. sure, there were others who loved the game as much and i'm not trying to discount them but for me those three really sum it up. ozzie smith, lou whittaker and alan trammel are some others i should mention i suppose but today it's all about kirby puckett. kirby died today after a stroke he had sunday. i was driving around in the coolerator when i heard of the stroke but just learned a few minutes ago that he had, in fact, died. below is a story from the AP. good bless you kirby.

...............

By DAVE CAMPBELL AP Sports Writer

MINNEAPOLIS Mar 6, 2006 (AP)— Kirby Puckett died Monday, a day after the Hall of Fame outfielder had a stroke at his Arizona home, a hospital spokeswoman said. He was 44.

Puckett died at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Kimberly Lodge said. He had been in intensive care since having surgery at another hospital following his stroke Sunday morning.

Puckett carried the Twins to World Series titles in 1987 and 1991 before his career was cut short by glaucoma. His family, friends and former teammates gathered at the hospital throughout Monday.

The hospital said Puckett was given last rites and died in the afternoon.

"On behalf of Major League Baseball, I am terribly saddened by the sudden passing of Kirby Puckett," baseball commissioner Bud Selig said. "He was a Hall of Famer in every sense of the term.

"He played his entire career with the Twins and was an icon in Minnesota. But he was revered throughout the country and will be remembered wherever the game is played. Kirby was taken from us much too soon and too quickly," he said.

The buoyant, barrel-shaped Puckett broke into the majors in 1984 and had a career batting average of .318. Glaucoma forced the six-time Gold Glove center fielder and 10-time All-Star to retire when he went blind in his right eye.

"This is a sad day for the Minnesota Twins, Major League Baseball and baseball fans everywhere," Twins owner Carl Pohlad said.

post weekend depression

there must be such a thing...i was having, what i thought was, a pretty good day today...then one phone call and it's in the shitter. it was just a work related call but what a way to be brought back down...oh well. i guess they call it work for a reason.
it just seems that when i think i have a handle on what it is i am suppose to be doing at work, things change and there's a whole new set of rules. oh well, that's life in the big city...speaking of which, i'd sure love to move to portland...maybe one day.
what a lame report, i'm sorry. i'm a little depressed, what's new?, and just have to sit sometimes and take it all in.

and so it was that i headed back down to my new favorite city this weekend to just do nothing, walk around and see what's what... in tow was my pal jessica who needed to get away as well...i recently ran into her after not seeing her for a long, long time and it was a good way to play catch-up. we left early saturday moring and were in portland by 2 pm after some fucking around out in camby - a small town outside of portland wher i have gotten door panels made for my car and bought fabric for my seats. a company called SMS is out there. al had bought some stuff from them and it was ready so i picked it up for him and got some more seat fabric for myself as well..so exciting.... anyhow...we trucked around portland, went to a few art galleries, went to a store called Compound, where they sell hipster nike's and toys...the went up to belmont street to go to missing link-another toy store and see my pal jonathon. i didn't buy anything but it's always nice to see him and the store. the it was off to la bonita for some great mexican grub. i didn't have the burrito this time but instead opted for the taco dinner platter...good times....three tacos and all the beans and crapola for $7.50...nice. then we went to powell's books...huge freakin' book store..i bought a wacky baseball rules book..you kinda have to see it...there were also some cool donald judd books there but a little pricey...then it was off to the Hilton. i kind you not. 22nd floor. swimming pool. spa, all that shit. i stole all the bathroom goodies.
today we walked down and got coffee, drove around a little and then headed off to seattle. seattle was a quick look today..a little look around broadway, a quick stop in ballard at a show store i wanted to go to and out...off to bellingham and bandito's burritos..so fuckin' big a couldn't finish it...
it's good to be home but if i could figure out a way to live in portland between shows i would..it's a good town. i always get these romatic visions of places that aren't vancouver...it's good to have something though i guess...

oh..and jessica turned me onto trader joe's, a grocery store that i had seen but i don't think i'd ever been to, and these peanut butter filled pretzel things...holy crap they're good...jessica was also given free strawberries at a market on belmont...

help me rhonda

it was bound to happen i suppose. not having a true garage or place to put it out of harm's way...someone broke into marcy's car last night. not that much damage really, it'll all be fine. i know marcy feels badly but i hope i've expressed to her that's it's all going to be fine...shit happens. assholes break into cars. funny really...they took her cd plaer which is a complete piece of shit...i didn't ask her if they took my cd's out of the glovebox...oh well if they did...good times..

head up camper...rhonda will be fine.

closer to mercury

i have been trying to find a hall and oates song on limewire but i can't seem to. i used to, as a kid, do air guitar in front of a mirror in my recroom in prince rupert to this song. i can't even really rememeber if it's a good song or not but i want to hear it and certainly don't want to buy the album. it's on the same album that has rich girl on it. the song is called room to breathe, i think. anyhow, that's my big concern of the day, for now.
i think i'm heading to portland tomorrow morning for a burrito, pick-up some material at SMS for the larry and maybe a trip to voodoo donut. good times. i know it's a long way for these things but i have nothing better to do so why not?
more details as they become available.

help me down

i have to admit that i am having a hrd time making heads and tails of the new cat power cd in terms of what the lyrics mean, i'm the kind of guy who likes to have a feeling of what's going on. especially as i sing along in the car to the songs i'm currently obsessed by.
the lyrics to 'the greatest' are like this...

Once I wanted to be the greatest
No wind of waterfall could stall me
And then came the rush of the flood
Stars of night turned deep to dust

Melt me down
Into big black armour
Leave no trace of grace
Just in your honour
Lower me down
To culprit south
Make 'em wash a space in town
For the lead
And the dregs of my bed
I've been sleepin'
Lower me down
Pin me in
Secure the grounds
For the later parade

Once I wanted to be the greatest
Two fists of solid rock
With brains that could explain
Any feeling

Lower me down
Pin me in
Secure the grounds
For the lead
And the dregs of my bed
I've been sleepin'
For the later parade

Once I wanted to be the greatest
No wind of waterfall could stall me
And then came the rush of the flood
Stars of night turned deep to dust

what the? but the sad fact is i can't stop listening to this song. the signature chan marshall vocals kill me...and there's always this shy confindence, if there is such a thing.i saw her years and years ago at bumbershoot in seattle with mishi. anyhow. i love this record.

boxscore

she’s smoking and looking around as if she’s waiting for someone. she reads a book at the same time, held in her right hand with her elbow bent so it sits at about waist height. under her arm is a leather clutch purse that looks as if it could fall out from under her arm at anytime. she makes no motion or movement to adjust it. her world is a small one centred around late night chat sessions with friends and trips to the corner store where rinaldo works, a olive skinned teen who she has a crush on.she buys more snack food than she’s ever going to eat, ever. but it gives her a reason. a reason she wouldn’t have otherwise to see him. to chat about nothing. to say hello. to go home and wonder what he’s all about. she smokes and thinks about her date who is now late to pick her up. but she doesn’t even care. she finishes her smoke and heads to the corner store. rinaldo starts at 5.

damn, i'm cute!

whoa...did i just write that? i must still be high from the dairy queen ice cream last night. mishi does lent every year and usually gives up all sweets and such for the 40 days during lent. so after k-win and i had dinner we headed down and grabbed the garberator and mishi and headed to the dairy queen on denman. i had a peanut buster parfait. I have tried, in the past, to give up swearing for the duration of lent. i have always failed miserably. i have the mouth of a terrible trucker and i'm sure it drives people crazy. but i know when to turn it off and when to leave it on. i should really try and swear less but what's the point? swearing is a great communication tool. so be it. i have thought about mishi and her lent today everytime i swear. so i have thought about her a lot.
last night was also the garbs second driving lesson with me...we drove around stanley park and parts of the west end. he's doing well...even if he always feels like puking. another lesson this week ahs been scheduled...stay off the roads thursday night.
the thing is my head that is taking up a large amount of space in there right now is taking up an even larger spot today...more details as they come to me...i may have to go to portland this weekend just so i can think it over...
