top ten(ish)

just thought i'd pass along a few of my favorite music from 2010...(some of it may have come out in 2009 but i don't give a shit. it's when i got them...)

the antlers - hospice. man, i love this album. sad, happy, sad...more sad. this is the antlers 'ok computer'.

arcade fire - the suburbs. surprise! i remember seeing these kids on SNL and thinking, 'what a bunch of douces'. i guess tastes and times change.

best coast - crazy for you. like the sounds of a airy girl groups of the sixties? this album may be for you.

bill callahan - rough travel for a rare thing. sure it's just a live album from smog's bill callahan. but it's a fuckin' great live album.

bruce springsteen - the promise. demos and unreleased tracks from bruce. it could have sucked but it doesn't.

the gaslight anthem - american slang. kinda like bruce but with more tattoos.

the hold steady - heaven is whenever. sure they lost their longtime keyboard player but the boys still have what it takes to rock the anthem.

jason isbell and the 400 unit - self titled. former drive by truckers songwriter and guitarist jason isbell gets together some pals.

lcd soundsystem - this is happening. james murphy says it will probably be the last lcd soundsystem album. nice. way to go out on top.

lucero - 1372 overton park. from the opening notes of 'smoke' i knew this one was a winner.

pj harvey and john parish - and a woman walked by. fuckin' great. period.

superchunk - majesty shredding. a fine return to form by these chapel hill kids.

the walkmen - lisbon. not for everyone. but good stuff.
