a week...it was.

a photo i'd love to take credit for but i can't...can't.

the salt mine was a busy place this week. this show is ramping-up and all the t's are getting crossed and the i's dotted, etc. so what can i tell you that you don't already know?
we had a scare this week with miss. ella, issy's mom. ella's 101 yet still doesn't miss much, bowls a little here and there and makes her way pretty well for an old gal. on wednesday afternoon i received a call from issy around 11 a.m. and she told me that ella had had a stroke and that she was in the hospital. it sounded bad, and really, at 1o1 nothing like that can be any good. bad gas could spell the end really. i made my way out to issy's and made sure things were as ok as they could be and then issy made her way to port alberni expecting the worst...well, the next morning, after some dire predictions form the doctors, ella woke-up and said hello to issy and that she was happy to see her there. and so it is...ella's little adventure, over for now. back to bowling.
the week's mowing was a test of both deft skill and speed on the pathways with the sun setting as fast as it is these nights...two west vancouver lawns were done after work, both looking good but done with the speed of, well, as fast as i can go while still maintaining the quality lawn order is known for. or something. none tonight but tomorrow morning i'll be up early and trying to get some action done before the heavy rains fall...tomorrow also sees the addition of a new lawn order tattoo...i'm an idiot...come by and watch the action if you feel up to it - sanitary electric tattoo on fraser...our man at the helm, chad.
wednesday night also found me outside meinheadt having, well, nothing because when i showed-up to meinhardt to get a snack and sit with my pal nancy and chat, the cases there were already ready for the shutdown. all the food was covered with saran wrap, and made to look all done. night, night, forget about getting a snack buddy. sure, they said they'd make-up a plate for me but it just felt very unwelcoming. and i have to say that's a real pet peeve of mine. if you say you're open until nine p.m., then appear open until nine p.m. don't start shutting it down at 8 or 8:30...it makes the patrons, the ones paying the salaries, etc. of the employees and the profits of the owners, not wanna stay there. i'm off meinhardt until i see the smiling face of lindsay back there...until then, fuck 'em. oh, and it was no better when i went to whole foods after my visit with nancy...they're open until 10 but they were in full shutdown mode by 9:30...fuckers.
so, while i was at the old meinhardt, i ran into david wisdon, who i have not sen for over five years. i have spoken of david before, in glowing terms as he's one of the great people i have met in my lifetime to be sure, and while it was a little awkward initially, i think he was happy to see me, i can only hope, and i know i was very happy to see him. i felt proud for a lot of years to call him a friend and also a co-worker...good man that david. he was with neil wedman and they were on their way to a restaurant they frequent every wednesday night...a meeting of the minds as it were...he and wedman meet with other contemporaries and like minded folks and talk about whatever it is those types talk about...i'd be lost i'm sure...all the references to things i had no idea about...good guys though...some famous, some not. anyhow..great to see david. just nice.
mishi continues to make ground on her recovery from appendix surgery...good for her...she sounds great, looks even better...and when she gets a little tuckered out she has a little lie down...easy tiger...
ok..back at it...

see ya this weekend.
