it's been a weird couple of days. i can say that. i just lived them.
i headed in from santa cruz late in the afternoon on tuesday and met-up with sheryl. there was a chance she'd get called to work so it was a chance or visit would be short but still would be, and was nice to see her. (she did get called to work but we met up later and had a little pancho villa together...a place she said she hadn't been since the late 80's..) things went a little south, even though i was heading north, in S.F. but as i said in my previous post, those who know, know, those who don't, don't really need to but suffice to say, i'll be smoothing things over for a while. ok...moving on.
i think i may have been to S.F. too many times in the last few years, i think i may have said this before as well after trips there. i love that town but find i do what it is i do there - panchos, walk around a little, maybe baseball (none this time), maybe some shopping, see sheryl and laurie, maybe, and then i'm ready to get outta there...this time was no different. after pancho's i drove sheryl home and hit the bay bridge, eventually as after a few false turns, and was away up towards bodega bay.
why bodega bay? well, joel and family were up there camping, somewhere, and i thought since i was in the neighbourhood, i'd drop-by and say hi. although, i really didn't know where in bodega bay they actually were...
after sleeping in a park and ride parking lot i headed to bedega bay, approx. 25 miles off the 101. and, without one false turn i managed to find joel's VW camper van and, because it was early, sat in one of his chairs by the firepit and read until he/they got up. his brother, martin, was the first to discover me and came over to hustle me away from thier campground until he saw that it was me.
so i hung around there for about an hour and half, stole a shower at the campground showers and was away. visit complete.
i drove last night up the california and oregon coast, thinking i was covering ground that corie and katherine had just covered less than a week ago. or thereabouts. it's a great drive. and i'm not much of a scenic kind of guy, but that shit's awesome. the drive is not for the weak of heart though, in spots, especially at night. twists and turns down steep declines towards and over the water...i've done this drive or that drive a few times now and love it.
i have managed to make it to portland and am having a great coffee stop at stumptown coffee roasters before i venture out...
have a great thursday.

here are a few pics from the last couple of days....maybe in order...maybe not...
ok. the kink, maybe, of all burritos was here. right here.
and here it is. bbq pork wet burrito. so freakin' tasty. i had a huge smile right after the first bite. by the end i thought i may pass out and end-up in a coma. i drove back to the spot where i had slept and had a little lie down for an hour or so. no sleeping just had to lie down. it gave me time to relax and read. this baby was a solid 9.3
another wet burrito but with green salsa instead of a red sauce. pancho villa green chili chicken burrito, loaded. nice. another winner. a solid 8.7
i slept on the side of the highway in an area i guess i wasn't suppose to stop at. it was a great spot though. the sound of the waves all night, no one else there. perfect.
inside the four barrel coffeeshop in S.F. good place.
the weather was great and then it would get like this for short periods of time...no rain but lots of mist.
joel and joyce making the morning coffee and such. i don't see enough of that guy so i need to track him down on his vacation in california too.
joels' daughter shows me her sand dollars..
