hitting the streets

last night libby and i headed to hattie's hat, a bar/restaurant in ballard, to have some food and see her pals who would be there. it's a bar where everyone knows each other and her pal amy was tending bar so it was a cool place to be. they had a tv on and extra speakers set-up so that you could hear the audio better. it was very interesting to be a part of or at least be witness to this event. and when the vote went over the top and barack was projected as the winner - i say projected because they start saying it's over really before it is - the place erupted. libby was relieved as eight years of bush was really gonna be over. mccain gave his consession speech and seemed like the old mccain, not the maccain who had decided to play it the bush/republican way and fuck over everyone and kiss a lot of asses...he seemed like a man who knew he had taken the wrong path, and his half hearted hug of palin at the end as if to say, "see ya 'round.." made it seem clear that he was done with her - the woman who can see russia from her house.
libhy and i finished our food and decided to head out and see what was going on around seattle. at first all seemed quiet and then as we approached pike street, we saw the police lights. it was happening. we had seen some action on capitol hill but pike street was amazing. hundreds of people out, cheering, holding signs, hugging, partying. and all very peaceful. there were cops but they were more controlling the cars than the crowd. libby said it was like the WTO protests, just peaceful.
then we went to al's bar, right next to libby's place, and took tango with us. tango is a regular. i met some of libby's pals, including brandon and his dog jack...another regular there.
then i started to fade...my bed in the back of the element was calling...
i'm glad i came. hanging out with libby made it that much better. and tango.

good morning.

i love you.
