marcy drops, the elephant finds a new home and i get a break...

weird.
simply a weird day.
marcy and i were suppose to have lunch today, and we did - eventually, but she called me last night and told me she had had a fall at work and had ended-up in burnaby general. huh? and she didn't know and still doesn't know what happened. one second she was at the flower auction walking along and the next thing she knew she was on the floor with a sore head and a bleeding finger. wtf? and because no one wants to get sued they took every precaution and took her to the hospital where her manfriend picked her up later on and took her home. so this morning i drove out there grabbed her this morning, we went to fort langley for a little snack and then to get her car which was still at her work. her new ride is elephant, my old element. and today was the plate switchover and well, the bolts broke off at the head and there was no way to get the bolts out so....off to the BOC we went and i went to work...good times. in the end i had to drill out the old bolts and then re-tap the holes and it was done...then for good measure we gave it a wash and she was away...that car is great for her, i'm glad it went to a great home. her dog loves it too.
then it was time to cut a few lawns. i came home, changed and away i went. and i don't know if i've told you how hard it is to back-up my new trailer, but it's fuckin' hard. so small, short wheel base, etc...anyhow. today as i had to back out of a small parking lot, some dude had parked in a fucked way and made the exit even smaller than it was originally...so as i was backing out and looking good...wham! i hit my mirror on the parking ticket meter...oops...no biggie. so after a few more turns i was away to the second lawn in point grey. where i discovered, as i got out, the big yellow smudge mark and dent from the cement pillar the parking ticket machine sits on. that's just low enough that you can't see it. nice.
then. time for lawn number three in the west end. what do you mean you can't turn left at davie off burrard...? huh? and, i did it. something i never do. turn left against a sign. and as turn, there he is. mr. police officer guy. waving me over. me and a few other guys. ok. whatever. i can't get mad about it. and as the police guy is coming closer to my car i reach to grab my wallet and i don't have it. i have no i.d. at all. nothing. and for some reason, i dunno...he let me go with just the no licence thingy and not the left turn thingy...a ticket that should have been three points and just over two hundred bucks and instead it's 57 bucks...nice.
i need a snack.

yard sales, picnics and cheap snacks.

the annual manhattan yard sale was yesterday and i helped lighten my load here at the garnyard by taking some old t-shirts down there to sell or at least never have come back in my house. in the end i think they're going to some homeless folks so i'm all good with that...there was a woman selling home made caramel corn so i bought a bag and had to give it to garvie to take home because i would have eaten the whole bag and then been out to try and find the woman who made so i could get more...holy crap.

so backing up, i bought the corn for a picnic fiona, ailsa and i went on yesterday...it was a short affair - as i had bomber hockey later on - but it was good to get out, throw the ball around, eat some blanket made snacks and throw the frisbee...and eat some caramel corn.

this morning mishi and i made our way south of the border to do some shopping and eating in bellingham...got a little something for fiona's birthday next weekend, a few bags of goods from trader joe's - sorry cam and jess they were out of the 'higher power' hot dogs.., had a burrito and quesadilla at casa que pasa...and more...it was good...i'm still full from my lunch...

ok...now a little relax...car tune-up, chiro and lawns tomorrow...

have fun.

day pass

i had a breakfast style dinner last night...love it! homemade chili on toast with eggs and bacon and avacado with salsa. call the doctor.

yesterday was my first real day off - though i did have some trips to the office to make some arrangements, return a couple of things and had out a few nixon shirts - and it was a time to start getting shit done.
i had a new set of rubber for larry so i took him to kal-tire and had them make things right in that regard...i know he's happier now - not that the tires i had one him were bad but these will make it so i don't have to do this drill again for many years.
i have made myself a list of things i just couldn't seem to get done while i was working so...i have rico coming to clean my couch and chair wed. at noon, chiro at 1 tuesday, going to bellingham with mishi monday (though she did mention that we should go tuesday because of the hockey game but it makes no difference to me so it's up to her...), the guys are coming to look at my fucked up geo-thermal pump thursday...i love knocking stuff off...including having lunch with the garbs at propellor yesterday...

oh..and i'm sending a nixon shirt to clint eastwood. seriously. i love that he'll be wearing a lawn order shirt.
ok...i'm off to cut some grass...(the garbs made a guest appearance yesterday on the lawn cutting scene....i was happy to have him there. thanks garbs!)

culling the herd

i have a lot of t-shirts. a fuckload to be exact. and i need to get rid of some - good shirts, shit, some great shirts. if you fancy any of these let me know and i'll get them to you...or you can come and get 'em...hurry before the garbs snaps them all up and messes 'em up.

g. xo

all of these are various versions of XL except the Mets shirt - which i love and bought in NYC but it's a large and fits me but i like a loose fit so...it has to go.

this is a long sleeve, never worn - i don't think - grey old school lawn order...nice.

jimmy shine motorcycle shirt...

nixon comes home

they're here. the new lawn order 'nixon' shirts. pretty cool - a big thanks to cam for really helping me out! 'he who can not be named on the blog' and i went down and watched them come hot off the press...

if you let me know before, you'll be getting yours soon.

i've done my best.

i try. i really do. to dot the i's and cross the t's and such...still. sometimes, stuff falls through the cracks. not often, but it happens. so be it.
tomorrow will be the last day on this number and i think, i could be wrong, but i think we're all ready to go home and have a relax. it was a bit of a shit eater but it's over now and we're all the better for it.
i have been making a list of things to do while i'm off. shit i just can't seem to get done while i'm on a show....culling my t-shirts, getting rid of clothes i don't wear anymore, fixing stuff around the house (fixed a sliding door last night...hip hip hooray...), going to the dentist, putting new rubber on larry...etc. good times.
this weather isn't helping my crops - the tomatoes or the mary-jane. i have the little buggers - the pot - in small planter thingys on the window sill but i want to plant them outside and let them get thier freak on. but no....this weather. what the fuck? in the words of the gibber, 'seriously'. i can see a lot of midday movies in my future if it doesn't get going here...
ok.
back to the office.

four bagger night life

holy cow.
i left a lawn i usually do on the weekends until tonight because i was asked to - why? well, the strata is having their AGM (annual general meeting) tuesday and ali, my pal and caretaker, thought it would be nice to have a nice looking lawn for the people who only show up during the meetings...so....long story, too late, made short - i did it tonight and it was a hard go. in the end four huge bags - no shit about 75 to 90 lbs each. fuckers. my trailer is loaded down now. i'd go down the hall to workout but i'm fuckin' beat.

speaking of beat...i'd say the pizza's at the new roma campagnolo or campagnolo roma are unbeatable. or at the very least - fuckin' great. after hockey last night i grabbed the garbs and mishi and we went there for snacks. we had three different pizzas and a nice salad...oh, and the chef sent over a pasta made with ox tail that was awesome as well...it's really a place that neighbourhood needed. they've been packing them in since they opened and you should really go by. i know corie and katherine went there the other night and had a great meal as well. it's nice for them as they can walk there from their new place. rob - bartender extraordinaire at refuel and k-win made the scene as well last night.

ok. i need some food...oh, and tonight's fare is a nice kale and white bean soup made by a woman i cut grass for - or have cut grass for. she's a chef. no i'm serious. a real chef. i don't want to drop names but she works with a certain iron chef and she paid me for cutting her lawn in food. salmon, sausages and soup. great deal as far as i'm concerned. bartering lawn cutting for food is my idea of success. good times.
ok.
snacks.

wayne white facination

i have a wayne white thing going on right now...though in reality i have had it going on for a long time i just didn't know it.
wayne white is an artist (he's also an illustrator and used to work on pee-wee's playhouse) who takes thift store art and then paints phrases or just single words on them. things he's overheard or just words he likes. i love it/them.
i want one.
i need one.
i e.mailed him and told him so.

(blogger is being fucked and won't let me upload pics so click his link to see his work...)

lawn order heads west

dez hussey, who works at topanga, works also as a landscaper and his boss called me the other day and asked if i'd go look at a lawn down on west 2nd in point grey near the vancouver yacht club....fancy...so after a refuel burger the other night, the garbs and i went by and had a look at a lawn that hadn't been cut yet this season. and it was longer and even longer today, as i struck up a deal earlier this week, to cut it - i think...well, at least this fist cut. and i'm going to sing the praises, again, of the new honda i bought on the weekend . it's so great that it makes short, no pun intended, work of a long lawn. i love it.
i just had a wacky leftovers kinda meal - a couple mini burgers - minus the buns, eggs, toast, soup and the sweet potatoes from last night. a little of each. good stuff.

ok. now a little yogurt - a new avalon dairy yogurt that's quite nice i must say and then relaxo.

have fun.

night night.

good lookin'...i should have done a before and after...

one sweaty guy...

me, not the garbs...
that was a day.
i started off my day walking from garvie's to my place - 19th and main st. to 4th ave and fir - then went and cut three lawns (i bought a new honda quadra cut and it's fucking awesome!), cooked up some mini burgers and veggies at the garnyard for ailsa and fiona and then, after they went home full of bbq goodness, i put five tomato plants on the basket of my bike and took them to mishi and garbs at the manhattan for their rooftop garden. then over the cambie bridge to whole pay cheque to get some staples for tomorrow's breakfast...i'm tuckered out.

here are a few pics form the last few days...in no order whatsoever.

have a great week.
